I was referring to physically running the tank dry on a wide open run..since all 3 were lean it has to be something that is consistent amongst, or effects, all the carbs/cylinders.

richard, can you get the current jetting specs for us? are the heads cut @ all?
i tryed reading the jets but couldnt make out the numbers ? how do i tell or measure the head to see if it is cut ?

Perhaps too much premix in the tank thus putting it over the ragged edge.
Might explain no wash and heavy soot.
But what do I know ;>)
