I have a Viper skid in my 98 srx. Last year I found the front limiters had broken on the last ride of the season. I replaced them over the summer with brand new ones from yamaha. Now after one 600 mile trip they are both broken again. What is causing this? I had the shocks all rebuilt and valved by Pioneer performance and set the skid up just like they spec. in there long travel kit. Any ideas those thing are not cheap.

hard to believe you can break them straps, they are tough material.I have broken one of the adjusters where the straps loop around.I was tightening up my straps.Did one side and was doing the other side and pop..broke it at the threads 50mm down..go figure.Them straps should really be hard to break.

are they breaking at ends, or otherwise? if at the ends, check for burrs on conection points.. If otherwise, change out center shock to eliminate that possiblity of to much force on strap..

Breaking in the middle. So there not rubbing on anything. Center shock preload is loose and was just rebuilt and revalved when these new straps were installed.

I had this prob as well. When through 2 sets of the yamaha ones. I made some out of belting with the same results. I went up to the A/C dealer and got some snow pro straps. have yet to break them. They are wider so you have to modify your front arm to make them fit.

The only thing I can find that was breaking them were rilly hard landings on the very back of the skid and on the throtle.

Thanks, That may explain it. We do a lot of jumping and hill climbing. Will try the sno pro straps. they are a lot les expensive also.
