Hello all
This winter is done for me (Western NY) but am going to mod the sled some over summer.
So far: 2003 Viper ER, added M10 Air skid. Cant wait to try it, maybe lucky late march snow, can only hope.
Want to add triple pipes here are my preferneces:
Low Noize - I am not interested in a loud pipes, as close to stock level as possible.
Reliable - I want to ride not wrench. I will do all needed jet wise, clutch but just want to enjoy it. Not concerned with the highest HP just a good solid gain.
Works with electric start and reverse - not sure if all the pipes work on ER?

Recomendations?

Thanks for all your help.

Mark

i have the aaen pipes. they don't provide the most peak hp, but do give a nice solid gain, shed a few pounds from the stock system, are trail quiet, and fit nicely. i would also look into the slp pipes, as one hears nothing but good reviews about those as well.

slp's are great pipes and low noise but im not sure if they fit with reverse maybe try haucks triple trail husher pipes those are nice pipes and i know they fit w/ reverse

those are aaen's....same as what i have.

I have to represent for Bender pipes...only used them for about 500 miles and now know what guys on here mean by "pulls like a freight train" :letitsnow

Thanks

Thanks for the recomendations

So:
aaen = Haucks Good with reverse and electric start?, I assume yes

SLP ? with reverse, electric start

CPR Simmons and Bender, reverse, electric start assume ok

I will look into these above.
Anyone else care to chine in?
Quiet and reliable that will work with reverse and electric start.

I will probably try to find used as my budget is suffering right now.

Thanks
Mark

I have run the CPR's on mine back in 2003-2004. I wouldn't recommend them for a stock motor. If you want all out fastest across the lake....maybe yes but if I did it all over again I would do SLP's probably 1st choice. It seems the CPR's are a top choice with 780BB kits. The Bender's were a bear the first year they existed.... the fit and trouble burning down with setup...but that has since been remedied. I put on a rear heat exchanger on mine and that would be a good idea with pipes. Also I would recommend a better head for cooling to even out the compression ratio . I ran a Speedwerx head but there are others out there. Hauck has some which look like re-conditioned SRX heads. PEAK has one. Mega Powers were the nicest but you would have to look a bit for some of those, they are out of biz. One note on the Hauck pipes. His first generation were CPR's. His current ones are AAEN's. I know the AAEN's are quiet as are the SLP's. The CPR's really were not terrible for noise. Speedwerx had a set but I heard they were a little noisy. Another set I would love to hear feedback on are JAWS made up in Canada. I knew a guy that had a new set but never ran them....sold the sled and sold the pipes to a private party in the box and never heard from him again. They make great pipes. Check out their website: http://www.jawsperformance.com/ They would be worth a call if you are buying new but you would have to go by their setup. The other brands ,especially SLP and Bender, there are plenty of folk with setups for these pipes. GOOD LUCK!!

I can tell you SLPs work very well, I ran them for 5 seasons. Strong power band, and quiet for pipes.
In that time the only problem I had, was a baffle broke in the silencer. I called SLP, they asked "how old was it", I told them a couple years (now out of warrenty). They said, "send it and we'll take a look at it". I told them, it was getting loud and I needed to replace it, even if I had to buy a new one.
They sent me a new one free of charge! They earned my repeat bussiness that day.
Not sure if they will work on an ER though, the silencer is pretty big. Probably why they are so quiet.

Viper ER with SLP's, you need to relocate the battery. Been there done that. Not a big deal really. Ran my son's ER over 5000 trouble free miles with the SLP's so far. Installed at 2000 miles, now up over 7000 -- no trouble. Will outrun almost any stock SRX. ;)!

That's good to hear. How's your mileage? Did you run the opticool head gasket or something else for heads?

I'm running stock head with machining by Jeff Simons to even out the compression. SRX base gasket with Bender Opticool head gasket to even out the cooling flow. SLP jetting with the needle 1 step leaner to clean up the mid-range. SLP clutching. Rear heat exchanger. I relocated the battery sideways above the right footwell. All the wires fit without modification. 1-1/4 Ripsaw track. Expert-X rear skid. Passes everything but a gas station. 7-9 MPG . Worth it though !! ;)!

The way I ride I didn't get a whole lot better mileage with my stocker in the UP of Mich. last month. First off I don't baby it much and secondly I was riding second in our group and I always get snow dust around my carbs with the FAI and I ran the carb coolant ON most of the time. It sucks more gas when the carb heaters are used.
