I replaced my belt with a new Yamaha 8BN but it seems like the TC engages are a higher RPM and does not seem to have the same pull. I rode slowly for the first 1/2 hour or so. My observation is that it does not accelerate as fast and revs too high. This is the new style 8BN belt which I hear performs "different". Do I need to look for the old style belt or other options?

The snow has left this weekend, so without a new installment, this may be the end of sledding this season.
Thanks....

Depending on what you mean by "engagement", the belt shouldnt effect the clutch engagement at all. It will effect your take off and acceleration, but usually(from what I have experienced) it does the opposite of what you are experiencing. A new wider belt will set higher in the secondary, there-for lowering your initial clutch ratio and should be snappier out of the hole.
Not sure on the new belt, maybe its a touch longer and skinnier.?!?!

thatsnormal, thats why if you have an over rev a new belt helps, normal re clutch. what are you seeing for rpms at top end?

I believe 8DN 17641 01 00 is the new part number and it replaces 17641-00-00. The new belt is a little wider from what I've read...does a wider belt run higher RPM's? BTW, my instrument cluster has a ground problem so I don't know WOT rpms...if I had snow, I would put my spare -00-00 belt on it and try it out.

So no one else had seen different performance during belt replacement?
Thanks....

Yes...but the difference was for the better.... better holeshot and no midspeed bog.
