just want to know which way you guys roll on these 2 helix's.Which have you had better performance from..ie)top end speeds.
This of course with a primary with 8DN-20's,fully loaded and with w-w-w spring.Just curious overall on your findings.

I have allways said....a 51/43 is not enuff helix for that sled with 8dn-20 weights. great weights for 8bu-oo but the 8dn -20,s need something close to a 54/44.

I HAD GREAT RESULTS WITH THE 51-43 WITH 8BU IN MY 2002 SRX. AND EVEN BETTER WITH A 50-40. I HAVE NOT REALLY SPENT ALOT OF TIME WITH 8DN-20 EXCEPT ON THE TAR AND GRASS. AND THIS WAS ON A PIPES /PORTED SX WHICH WE SETTLED IN NICELY WITH 8CA. 3:16 (yammie tony)

i love the 8ca's too.

93 exciter uses 89L. Great weight. We used em with awesome success in the piped red head 6 & 700,s. pulled good all the way thru the shift.

I,m running a 51/45 haulk, better top end then straight 47 with about the same pull. 51/43 will over rev, ya u need more than the 43 finish..

I came home late tonight from work to read this.I know Turk doesn't recomend the 51/43 helix, better off staying with the 47 Helix then. How come the 51/43 was used in the RX1 and some others as stock helix then?? I will be looking for a 54/44 helix for next season's use.Turk will you find me one then,somewhere..somehow you must be able to find me a used one.
For ending this season,I will go back to the 47 helix then.

well I got my SXR up and running again today.Using the 51/43 helix for now also.I have it pretty well spot on with clutching.Sled pulls nicely and gets to 100 mph pretty quick.Had some wot pulls today on the river also,a little icy in spots..so had to watch and be prepared.Got sled up to 113 mph and it was -10 C.Seems to stay there and not climb to much after that.WOT rpm is 8500 and no more.Because the surface is pretty well rock hard and on the river,I may spin a little at take off(no studs),she drops nicely to 8100-8200 and pulls wicked to 110 mph and climbs a tad from there.I think because I spin a little to much, the belt is dropping into the secondary a little to fast at first, but then makes up for it. I think I will go back to the 47 helix and increase wrap to 80 with red spring.I am at 70 with green now.Probably will go back to y-w-y primary from w-w-w now.Overall the sled performs pretty good and pulls hard.At 60 mph if I pin it,I will lift the ski's off the surface.
I put the new thermostat in,bleed the cooling system twice and all is working good now.Sled is not overheating now and light is staying off.The exchangers are now heating up all around now properly, circulating of the coolant is normal again. That is another problem solved. Thanks Rich from
richmotorways for the thermostat.

do one change at a time, you will get a better idea whats going on. to much at once then u don't know what for sure to change to get the results you want.. as for the 51/43.. that's pretty much all YAMAHA has to offer to get best results.

As Turk answered earlier. The straight 47 helix is more aggressive then the 51/43.I have gone back to the 47 helix to try again.red at 80 wrap.Left the w-w-w primary in for now and will see what develops.

Why make a change if your rpm's are spot on and you're pullin 113? Thats flying for a trail sled!!! I have been following all your posts and was wonderin how fast your tryin to go?lol

Have you tryed a set of 8bu-00 weight's

As turkey said a 51/43 is a little shallow but aftermarket helixes shift more aggressive then a oem rx1 helix.if your looking to be quick use a multi angle helix but if your looking for mph use 8bu with a 47 helix set up for speed running it will acheive 110mph on radar in 1000ft

Sorry Turk I have t 9 on my phone so it automatically puts in turkey when I spell turk, lol

Would you use a green spring in secondary with the 8bu's
