i have seen srx's run great with it and some run not so great. usually the not so great was a dealer throwing it on and sending it out the door, not spending any time setting up. take the time and ask questions, IMO
good luck

Very difficult to get 10-20 more out of an SRX! IMO the Bender kit is effective ,especially on the 98/99's. I have a friend who bought and installed this when his 98 was new and his sled is very fast for what it is. To get the kind of HP you are looking for, I think, you will have to add a good porting job to the equation.JMO

well port job it is!!! there is no sense dilly dallying around!! any one know a good place in eastern or central canada to get a good port job done???
Your not gonna get 20 hp out of a srx motor unless you do a wild port job & bump compression. Your gonna see low 150 hp with decent trail porting. add a set of reed spacers.gotta run good quality premium with emphasis on GOOD!!!!don,t run bender cold air kit.just run good clutching.

srx w/ bender trail port, vforce2's, bender silencer, on the dyno w/ safe jetting is 158 h.p. bender cold air kit works great....but you need to run the carb vent tubes into the air box.

I am sure there is a lot of places to get a good "porting" job. I have experience with Benders porting on one of my Vmax4s and I was very happy with the outcome. In Canada I have dealt with "Gerry" at Bender Racing Canada[Eastern Ontario] with good results.

800VMAX4. NOT TO HIJACK HERE. YOU EVER TRYED SRX 700 REEDS/ COMPLETE CAGES ON A VMAX 800. 3:16 (yammie tony)

Hi: No I never put the SRX cages on my 800s...I went right to VFORCE reeds on both of them. As you probably know, the cages are interchangeable between the SX/SXR tripples, the SRXs and the 800 VMAX4s[the VFORCE reeds are identicle for all these]. as a note: The 750 VMAX4s use a different cage.

Why must you run the vents to airbox with cold air kit? Does it make the jetting more consistant?

on carb 2 cycyle sleds that use an air box there is a pressue drop that occurs inside the box. cold air kit or not the underhood air pressure will be different from inside the box. the air pressure also changes depending on the speed & amount of underhood air entering the hood vents...thusly your carb tuning is in a continual state of flux. the amount of pressure applied to the float bowls changes the fuel flow to the motor. the cold air kit is your best friend as long as the vent lines are left hanging in the airbox. now not only do you have fresh cold outside air coming to the carbs but by venting the tubes to the box you have consistent fuel flow. there is one other way to get consistant fuel flow....fuel injection.
all hi-po sledders should subscribe to dynotech research. jim researched this subject & did extensive field & dyno testing on this topic when the vmx4 came out in '92. anyone who is not running direct outside air induction to their carbs ( cold air kit ) is giving up free h.p..

You must have to rejet to compensate? As the carbs are not being pressurised from underhood air. My guess is that you must be richer on the needles and mains.

I have vented in and out of the box on my sleds since the 80's...With the Vents in the box you will definately need larger mains and sometimes needle position/jets as well. How much leaner they run depends on the sleds design/venting[ how high the underhood pressures get] and the airbox design[some are so small they will actually create enough vacuum to suck from float bowls!].
I don't have a Viper but they normally have vents in the box-165ish mains, when you drop the vents out of the airbox you can run 155ish.
BE VERY CAREFUL WITH JETTING[mains + needles] IF YOU MOVE AN SRXs VENTS INTO THE AIRBOX!!! I move my vents into the box on my SRX when its very warm[so I don't have to rejet], but normally run them out[bush league alt/temp compensator] Remember I have my DCS to bail me out!

I am going to try venting them to the air box on my srx 7. I have a bender cold air kit and it is set up for 660. I have two carb racks and air boxes so I could try both ways to see the difference.
