I have a 2002 viper with Aaen pipes, and want to put a srx cdi with safer timing curve and better fuel mileage and possibly longer piston life. Which year SRX box would plug right in with no issues?
thanks,
by the way, western canada here and still snowing strong. 6 ft of snow in the yard.

what you spinning that motor at with those pipes ? 9000-9200?

Here is an idea , Yamaha stock srx pipes , bender silencer , 8400 rpm , probably 2-3 jet sizes smaller , and stock heads ,

better fuel mileage more reliability and probably the same hp or close !

Changing a Viper over to an SRX CDI is kinda opposite to what,[IMO], most might do!? I would think the Viper CDI with its ability to make power at the higher RPMs is a better match to the Viper's porting...especially with the Aaens that like to rev 8900-9200 RPM. The SRX CDI likes to make power 8300-8500RPM, again matching the SRXs milder porting and stock pipes!?

sorry 800 i was revising while you were posting , kind of funny lol , cc each other .

I guess great minds....lol !
Hey we still have snow here! Planning a long ride on Fri...hopefully not the last this year!

Actually, sorry not the whole story. It has viper bottom end, but srx top end and heads. Just has all viper electronics. Just running it like this till I get the viper cylinders fixed. So basically srx porting, pipes maybe not tuned perfectly for that?

Hey. It just seemed like a lot of work to fit those srx pipes in the viper body. Is it that easy?? Thanks for the quick reply.

I Just Dismantled A Srx That I Purchased From A Ty Member And It Had A Viper Motor With Srx Heads With Opticool Gasket , I Have The 3 Adapter Blocks For The Exhaust Flanges , And Other Than That I Did Not See Anything Diffiicult About The Conversion. "srx Chasis"

I Dont Own A Viper , But I Do Know That There Is A Tech Section On This Mod Somewhere On This Site , I Will Try And Search For It And Provide You With A Link , Or Im Sure Someone Will Chime In With Their Experience .

Is that why I can't get the revs that I want? because of the mild porting on the srx cylinders? Also the setup you described with stock srx pipes, should I use an srx cdi?

I Dont Think So " REVS" , You Have Srx Cylinders And Head On Viper Bottom End Wihth Viper Cdi . Im Not Sure How Many More Degrres The Box Is , But I Think Its 4-7 Degrees From Start To Finish More , Or Something Like That ???

You Are Running Srx Powervalves I Hope , Vipers Are Too Long For Srx Cylindres ?

I think they are the viper ones, no problems yet?? Been three years like that. Maybe I better change them. You have any for sale? Srx ones? I thought I compared them the two of them for length before installing.

4 Years Ago My Neighbour Purchased A 700srx Engine For $2200 Cdn From A Reputable Yamaha Fella From Lon. Ont , . And He Had Mistakenly Put Viper Valves In , And Rene Did Not Even Make The Stop Sign On Our Street , 2 Valves Grabbed The Rings , And Messed Up The Cylinders And All .

The Local Yamaha Mechanic , Who Is Very Very Knowledgable , Id Them Without Batting An Eye .

After A Certain Amount Of Arguing And What Nots , He Come Clean And Replaced Everything .

I was just talking about trying to get to the 8800-9000 that these pipes run best at. Probably can't do that until the Viper cylinders are back on. I will do that search about putting srx pipes in there.
