One idler wheel decided it didn't like me anymore and left, rebuilt skid (general maintenance) and a plugged pilot jet at the beginning of the season. The SXR 700 just turned 10,000 miles so it will receive new a new top end this summer.

Last time I was towed home was on my 1994 Vmax 600, it was in 1997, the crank broke and the primary came through the side of the sled. Both of my sleds have 10,000 miles or more and have NEVER been towed.(1998 Vmax 600, 2001 SXr 700)

Beginning of season before I even rode I had a piece of my primary clutch sitting in the bellypan the day before I was riding. Cost me 200 for a Polaris P-85. Next day go out for short ride and had front suspension arm come loose and mounting hole opened up, this was my fault for not reinforcing. Next trip I spun the jack shaft along the side of the road doing about 40. Cost me 100 and 2 hours time. The very next day I bent my rear suspension shock and had to ride about 30 miles with broke shock. Cost me 60 dollars for a RX-1 shock for a replacement. I had about 390 total in repairs and about 8 hours labor and 3 rides cut short due to repairs. Enough to piss me off and now am looking at getting a 2009 MXZ TNT 600 HO E-TEC. 1 pull too start 25 mpg and sips oil.

I hear ya sandman, the season is too short to begin with, and a little warm up can ruin the trails easily. Having mechanical issues is where I draw the line as well. I have been pretty lucky in the mechanical issues part, so I am not forcing myself to get a new sled for next year. What also does not help for me is that there are no jobs out there at the moment that wouldn't require an hour + of drive time each way.

1,723 miles so far this season and have'nt broke a thing.8,800+ miles total on the old girl and never a problem, but I'm thinking that I'll tear the engine down this coming fall and at least put rings in it and check everything out.I'm also debating some port work as I understand these redheads really rock with some port work.

Had a buddy on a cat that blew out the bottom of his exhaust Y and caught the sled on fire. He melted down the hood before we could get the fire out. But my other fellow yamaha rider and me no problems at all. No snow here so time to put them away

My sled is a 94 and has 5,100 miles on it. I am predicting steering trouble next year.

or do you want to hit a tree and end the sleds life...so that you have an excuse to buy a new sled.Is that really what you wanted to say..lol

Broke the lower center track shock mount on my 700 ( probably from the huge jump i took at the beginning of the season). That was an expensive fix. Also blew a clutch on my 500. Other than that put on 1500 km with no other problems.

oh, and the only thing I had happen was the ra adjuster on my mono skid was broken for a second time. more of an inconvenience than anything. still have great compression after 9000 miles replaced the pv's last fall as most of the coating was gone. had one pv cable break forever ago, many seasons back. so all in all, this was not an unusula season, it has always been a great sled. no plans to rebuild it or anything, just summerize it and get it going again next fall. never had the head off, don't want to

Just over 2,000 miles this season, just added gas and oil, new plugs and a belt. Still on the same wear bars and hyfax from last season. Odometer is showing 15,580. This season seemed to go fast.

Mine was a stator and bent skid rail.
Buddies stator, snapped steering post, snapped W-arm, Snapped back suspension cross shaft, chain case rebuild, and finally a fubared recoil. All fairly minor stuff and the good news is nobody got hurt in the least.
As said before, IF YOU ARE GONNA RIDE EM, THEY ARE GONNA BREAK!!!

all that stuff from riding in the mtns taylzee??
Almost 2000 miles this season. For some reason I had to top off the oil tank each morning otherwise, I am happy to report nothing major. I did put some pretty scracthes in my rear exchanger after having my M-10 set too soft, still trying to find the sweet spot. Bruce at CB Perf. doubled up the thickness of my exchanger protectors to counter this. No problems or leaks, and I have put on 1300 miles after the initial contact of aluminum VS Studs.

Oh Darn, I've got one more to add.
Look closely at the ski spindle...
I bent another TA, this time on a hidden rock on a power line. I hit directly with the left ski. It threw me off! As I rolled I could see the sled roll up to the power pole! Luckly it veered away at the last second. I'm still a little sore this morning.
P.S. The date on the camera is wrong, that was this weekend. I took the picture on Sat. morning. It happened Fri. night (3/20) as it was getting dark.
