have an 02 yamaha viper with slp triples clutched and jetted thinking of going to an fx nytro with fox floats was wondering if i would like it in comparison power handling etc. and whats the best fx nytro ? any opinions would be great

I just bought(2 weeks ago) a Nytro XTX and like it a lot. Power is arm stretching, and handling is great.
Im not as fast through the tight corners, YET! I only have 500 miles on, with only about 300 on trail. I am much faster going around wider corners though.Sled stays very flat when cornering!
Handles bumps better and is more predictable.
I havent even dialed the sled in yet. I need to soften the front up a touch, its a little choppy. But I believe I can do this with out sacrificing the flat cornering that I have now.
Im comparing it to my 04 Viper S with re-valved front Ohlins shocks and Cat rear suspension(which handles bumps way better than the ProAction).

ya some need more than others but still anyone else go from a viper to a Nytro

One of the guys I ride with just went from an 2002 completely stock Viper[11000 km] to a 144" 2009 Nitro. He likes it. finds it very cold when riding in the colder weather, it goes pretty good...a little slow compared to most of the sleds we ride with, until it warmed up and the snow got sticky, it didn"t seem to effect its performance as much as the 2 strokes.[it does look good!]

ya is there any aftermarket accesories or then turbos to make em a little quicker? hows the handling and why are they such cold sleds?

I think its cold, not unlike the new Ski Doos, because you are so exsposed to the elements...like riding a 4 wheeler at 90 mph at -30 !! Our riding buddy on the Renegade 800R XP is usually complaining of the cold as well. Mind you I hang a taller cobra windsheild on my SRX below -15c !

They're colder simply because of the lack of wind protection from the front. Compare your Viper to the Nytro. You have a lot more body in front of you.

I did a demo ride on a factory setup nytro and apex .I felt more at home on the apex and felt i could ride it better through the turns ..I ride an srx and razor sharp handling it what i strive for (and where i ride there is rarely moguls) but i liked the apex better for what i do.

No...he lives closer to the Ontario/Manitoba boarder...still has the sled but I think he has a buyer.

I went from a 02 ported and SLP piped Viper, to a XTX. I thought I would miss the power, the Viper was a strong runner. It seems like XTX pulls just as strong on accel, up to about 80 mph. From there on up the Viper was faster. XTX handles way better in the rough, you can tell the chasis design has come a long ways!
The one thing I do miss sometimes is that triple pipe, triple sound!

I too rode the Nytro and Apex on Demo rides and found the Apex to be a better sled to ride. It seemed to handle a little better and was more versatile for sit down riding and stand up....

I have rode and ridden with Mtn Apex and Mtn Nytro, stock and super charged up to 280 HP. I would never give up my Mtn Viper for either of them stock. Buuuttt, then super charged Nytro and Apex are wicked. Stock they can get me in the deep powder only because of the 160+ tracks. I ride with guys 1/2 my age, 62 vrs 31 and have to help them load at the end of the day, because of the extra weight they fought all day. Last thought is I'm looking at a Mtn nytro super charge if they drop 15 more #'s in 2011.
