Was wondering if anyone could tell me if a crank out of a Viper can be rebuilt? Took mine in to get redone and they say that yamaha doesnt sell individual parts to repair it.... A new one is very costly!!!!

I'm not trying to insult who ever you took the crank to but they don't know what they are talking about and if you look at the online micro fiche you can buy any part of the crank you need to separately.

I have noticed that some online microfiche shows crank parts and others only show the entire crank as an assy. like you, i was confused till i looked around. I would suggest you do a search on here and send your crank out to someone that specializes in yamaha crank repair. it can be repaired.

Cam/ Viper adict, there's a guy local to me, that does the warranty work for yamaha. he can rebuild it for you, as well as bruce @ cb performance.

I couldnt see why it couldnt be fixed. Every other crank can be. I think this shop just lost some bussiness... They said they couldnt get parts... There are some places that show the crank as a whole assembly and others that show it parted up...

Adrian Bernard in Quebec does exchanges on these cranks if you want to do it in Canada...as everyone has been saying, some microfiche only show complete crank,[thats where the confusion is coming from]but all the parts are avail.

Atelier Adrien Bernard was acquired in 2006 by CVTech and is now known as CVTech-AAB. They are still one of the premier crank rebuilders in Canada located in Thetford Mines, Quebec. They have a website http://www.cvtech-aab.com

do not trust cvtec  !! we are still waiting for them to send the centre section back out of my brothers viper crank. they told us it was not rebuildable, so we told them to send it all back to us. kirkswim and harnessracer can confirm that we did not get it all back. pisses me off as i had gotten another crank scrapped on a different cylinder to take the parts from to fix kirkswim's crank.

the yamaha canada part fiche only lists the crank and lower case's as a rotating assembly for $2000.00 canadian. port yamaha and the other american yamaha sites show a different picture as you can buy every part other than the case halves individually.

another example of how canuks get boned by our dealers.

Thanks guys you have all been helpful.. The problem lies with the micro fiche and yamaha. The dealers dont have a clue!!!! One dealer I spoke to here said the parts are available...

First I have heard of problems with AAB. Hopefully they get you taken care of.

me too. we think they stole the parts to fix someone elses crank not expecting us to want them back. centre section was the only really good section on that one. pto cylinder had some minor movement in the connecting rod bearing.

The Viper crank is the only one that doesnt list the parts of the crank. Every other yamaha crank is broken down into parts that can be ordered. Not all the canadian dealers realize this and say you have to buy the whole assembly. I grabbed a micro fisch off the internet of the parts breakdown of the viper crank and sent it to the machine shop. You would think Yamaha and the dealers up here would get with the program. The one yamaha dealer I deal with said they have the parts breakdown for that crank. Other dealers dont have anything or have a clue that parts can be ordered...
