My '03 viper has 6000 very well maintained miles on it with the origianl track. I want a studded track. The Track is in very good shape with no missing cleats, tears or holes. How long can you expect a track to last? Should I stud it or wait and get a new track and stud that? I realize track life depends on the riding condition and this one has only seen good snow most of the time.
Thanks,
Tom

If track clips are in good condition yet stud it and run it,unless your looking
for somthing more agressive, about the only thing that wears out is the clips
and can pricy to replace because theres so many of them witch would make most people just upgrade the track.

Go ahead and stud the stock track. You'll enjoy the get up and go and extra stopping ability. Have had stock tracks last longer than the sled its self, 13,000+ miles.

I have the stock on a 03 with 144 studs up the middle. I would buy a new 1" track and stud that. The studs are great and help.

Like Daman said check the clips. Look for any small cracks on them. My stock track with 5500 miles on it has already lost over 20 clips and now I see that more are missing, broken ,cracked and one is in the exchanger protector.

If you plan on keeping the sled a while, I'd upgrade to a 1" camo 9830 or hacksaw with studs. You'll love it compared to what's on there now. The studs will help hookup on ice and hardpack, but the 1" track will be a big difference in all conditions.

I have over 8000 mi. on stock track while running 168 studs since new. lost one stud last year and have a 1" hole. I have put on about 1500 mi. sice the stud ripped out and the hole hasn't gottten any worse. Will run it next season too. Save your money and stud the track you have.
