I just bought a really nice 2002 Viper with a bad crank. I have two nice cranks from 2000 SXr 600 triples. Would that crankshaft work in the Viper case? From what I know the cases are the same... if I am wrong on that please also let me know!!! Thanks

SXR Cranks are NOT the same as a Viper crank.

Meaning the cases arent either. Stick with a Viper crank or worse case scenario use a SRX crank.
2000+ for the year on the srx crank. kirkswim just got his running on the weekend. has way more torque than the viper crank motor.

why is that? what's the difference between viper and srx crank?

Crank info
Thanks for all the information. Very informative and helpful to me!!!!

Srx crank is aprox 1.5lb's more mass. This means slower spin up but at the same time I have notice way more pull and keeping a consistant rpm in deep snow. This is a side to side comapro with a 2005 Venture(came stock with viper motor and exhaust) Venture will spin up faster than the viper.
As a side note it also deepens the vipers exhaust note.

staggs, the counterweights on a viper are porkchopped out for light weight fast revving and the srx counterweights are solid all the way around. you can see the difference on the microfiche.
