Last ride of season and just started geting great snow wise and as I was coming to a corner(luckily very under control) they just snapped like a toothpic. I wasnt even going fast at all!Thankfully. Now I just put a set of warrior skis that seem to have a much deeper keel than my srx skis but still They SHould Not Break. They broke clean off just under the handlbar mount. So here is the question. Do I have a professional welder weld it back together or is there stronger upgrade I can put in? Thanks guys. Any input greatly appriciated.

2000 and latter steering posts are stronger. Yamaha beefed them up at the top to prevent this from happening.
You can either use a steering post from a 2000 and later SRX. Or have it welded and add some gussets welded in for additional strengh.

I had this happen on a buddies. I matched the ID and OD with an insert and welded. Be careful if you go this route because it will never break in that spot again and being up high like that, you may want it to break if it's your body doing the breaking!!!

How hard are they to change? Will the motor need to come out?

So im thinking the viper ones would be stronger as well?

just wondering did they update the Phazer/Mountain Lite steering columns after 2000???
A buddy had a 01 Mtn-lite, it had the stronger post on it. I think all of the pro-action chasis sleds recieved the updated post after 2000.
