Yeah I am about the highest here,found that out in 97.Uprights are in,but no plywood.Partially ready just incase.Wouldn't take to long to finish the wall.I will leave them up for a good while after the spring.Want to do some modification's to the uprights before I put them away.

Am I understanding correctly that you install a wall around the house and then line the outside with plastic? Does the head pressure from the rising water keep the plastic from lifting and allowing water under it?
Maybe (and hopefully) you haven't had to try it out, but I'm assuming you got the idea from neighbors and am wondering how the water doesn't find a way past the plastic.

Sounds like you are doing ok so far. Not sure what the river crest level is but I beleive it is still coming this week. The g.f. was in Morris on sunday and there is water everywhere, got some good pics. She also has over land flooding by her place. She lives in Bothwell and had some water come in to her basement. They are getting hit pretty hard north of winnipeg with all the ice jams...

snmofo..The uprights are placed in concrete,2x6's are bolted to that.This is at every 24 inches.Then 3/4 inch treated plywood is screwed to the 2x6's all around.This is the backing for the plastic.Plastic is placed over the plywood and out a few feet on the ground.You then procede to place sandbags on the plastic,keeping it tight to the ground.We also caulk the plywood where it meets the concrete slabe on the bottom.And that is it.Any leakage is taken care of with pumps.

well that is a pic from mom's house.normally if the flood prediction was that of what we had in 1997,the wall was intended to run 8 feet high,but since the prediction is about 3 feet lower,we ran the plywood 4 feet high.We just keept it 8 feet high in the corners,as the plwood was marked and cut to fit the corners.This way we didn't end up using all the plywood,less handling and less work for us.
