sounds like carbs for sure got a 98 srx 700 no matter how long it sits put the choke on it starts in 3 pulls everytime guess i'm lucky or have clean carbs i would check the choke first

Its probably not the carbs, the choke circuit is quite large. If it was sludged up you'd have more problems than hard starting. The fuel pump is the problem, my carbs are always clean and I had this problem.

Well to tell you the truth,my 02 SRX was always hard on starting also.Pissed me off that my 01 SXR could start so easily anywhere from 1 to 2 pulls and the SRX was always like 6 to 8 pulls..Now since I replaced my reeds a while back..I noticed the SRX was starting much quicker then before.It was firing up in 2 pulls basically.So good sealing reeds are a boost as well towards a good starting SRX.
