I have a 2002 Viper which I blew up last year. I am trying to find out what I could replace the engine with? Is it possible to drop a 4stroke in? Or does anyone know of a performance engine shop that could build me one?
Thanks guy.
this site rocks!

Anything is possible, depends on how much time you want to spend customizing. Only thing that will fit easily is a yamaha tripple. I would just rebuild the old one. If you want more power, port and pipe it.

I thought about rebuilding the stock motor till I realized I blew a hole in the caseing.
Any ideas on where to find a motor?
I am adding a long track kit to it. Just havent decieded weather to go with a 144" or a 151".

Best approach is to part it and buy another sled that is already long tracked. You should be able to get a comparable or better sled with the funds obtained from parting it. Unfortunately the best time to sell parts is during the season which is pretty much over.
If you fix it, you want to go with a Viper engine, the mods to fit other engines in it are too much for what you end up with (IMO).
You should be able to find a good engine for $1000 - $1500 or a modded one for $1500 - $2500 depending on what it is.
You could get cases for a few hundred, a crank for $400, and new pistons for $200 and then rebuild your own. Then you would have basically a brand new engine. You would then have to throw some money into the rest of the sled to make it new again.
If you parted it and got say $2000 from parts, add the $1500 you would have spent on a new engine, you have $3500 to look for a new one. Really nice 4-strokes are being sold for $5000.

i have a viper crank, set of cases and 3 cylinders, let me know if your interested in any of it
2000+ srx motor will fit, bottom cases are the same. I blew mine on the Jan TY ride and got the case fixed for $80. Sent the crank to the rebuilders and they said nonrebuildable(still fighting with them over returning all of the crank). So I bought a 2001 srx motor complete running that somone had put viper cylinders on. Dropped it in lined it up and started driving. Pulls harder bottom than stock but does not rev up as fast. Cluching stayed the same and uses the viper cdi and stator.
Brand new viper crank in canada $2000, srx crank $1000 (this is from dealer).
When i put my stock viper motor back together I am seriously thinking about putting an srx crank in it if I cannot find a good viper one.

Send me a pic of the crank and we'll talk. I'm interested in that if you'd like to sell it.

crank is in the motor still, it would take me a week or two to get the time to remove it
