Is there anyway to get more clearance on the front end of the Mountain Max. They seem to ride pretty low, and I would like to get a couple more inches of clearance. Does anyone sell any kits for this?
 
Three options that I know of. Longer shocks (vipers might work for you), Drop brackets at the upper mount (Hauck might have them still), or cutting the mounts off the trailing arms and flipping them over (buddy of mine did that and it worked great for him)
 
Thanks guys, I have a set of works shocks on it right now set to max height. I heard a while back that I could use viper spindles with my ekholm trailing arms if i used some spacers. Anybody tried this?
 
I recently upgraded to some floats that are almost 16" center to center. They did the trick but now I am dealing with some bump steer issues due to the stock steering set-up and the different pivot points of the radius rods vs. the steering arms. I am in the process of putting together a rack steering set-up to try and reduce this. Right now I bet I have close to 6 inches of bump steer throughout the entire travel range.
 
With that bump steer comes bent rad rods or bowed trailing arms. You need wider rad rods to fix it, but then your front will be back at about the same ride height. That much bump steer can cause you to go nuts on a UP trip trust me. Maxdlx
 
Actually, moving the inner pivot of the steering arms outward near the same point of pivot as the radius rods will makke it much better. That's my plan with the rack steering. Yamaha used to do it for the factory racers on the SX chassis, Polaris has been doing for a while now as has skidoo. I will post up my results as well as pictures when I get it figured out. I have parts from a snowcross skidoo on the way and plan on having it complete for this season.

sno-tek used to make a rack system along with their unequal length radius rods for the sx chassis but their site hasn't listed it for a while. There have been several people on here that have made their own and I plan to do the same.
 
i am in the process of building a rack setup for my viper as i want to basically build it to the same setup as the sno cross sleds. there is a pdf file floating around in the forum with the factory parts install for the race teams and it includes some measurements and pics of the yamaha setup. just a thought
 
Yeah, I looked at that set-up and it is pretty nice. Mine is going to more like the sno-tek version with the two idler arms, similar to a chevy truck.
