I have purchased a 99srx in nice shape. Im in the middle of going through the sled cleaning carbs inspeting the reeds cleaning the power valves etc...
The only reason i bought this sled is because i want to build a lake racer. So far i have decided that my money will be best spent with jetting/clutch work as i have read from some respected memebers on the board. I have about 800-1000 bucks to spend on this. I want to set it up for lake drag racing at unknown distances some may be short pulls some may be out to top speed. I weigh about 230 with gear and i may want to ride the sled on the trails a bit so i need it to be set up to handle that. I am willing to trade most anything on the trail for good performance on the lake. I also dont mind running/mixing race gas if i have to. Could somebody help me out with this. One thing the sled has is adjustable transfer rods. Thanks in advance

There are some very good clutch set ups floating around on this site which use stock Yammie parts (affordable). After clutching the most cost effective for performance on a SRX is a good port job. Porting will really wake up a 99 SRX and maintain stock like reliability, just my two cents.

nitrious? haha just kidding, im not big on SRX's (SX[r] person) but ive seen plenty of big bores on this site, doubt it will fit in your price range of max. of $1000, i agree with triple x, porting wakes up most sleds. id go with that.

Set the clutches up right, and a good port job and you'll be set to go. One question, is it the 700 or 600?

You might look in to a different set of reeds.

I have the 700. What do i need for clutch tools?
Clutch tools:
Clutch puller
Clutch alignment tool
Torque wrenches that can take 6nm, 60nm and 120 nm.
Rivet removal/installation tool (very handy)
Weight removal/installation tool
Goodwin performance "clutch dummy" tool.
Clutch holder if you plan on splitting it.

I have the torque wrenches covered and i also have a cherry max pop rivit gun (not sure if thats the one i need though) Where can i acquire the rest of the stuff?
Not that kind of rivets. Weight rivets.
You can try to get this from rich motorsports.

fett bros heavy hitters clutch weights work real well for top speed lake running, heel clickers seem to be popular for short drags, i've got a dalton 54/46 helix i was running last year for radar runs that i'd probably part with, i went to a reverse helix style roller and don't think i can use it anymore, pm if ur interested, also got a yammie green spring with only a few pulls on it

Well after doing a bit of research i am sending my pistons heads and jugs to mr Viper for porting. He was nice to deal with and has good reviews here.

Don did mine too. Freshen the rings as long as its apart to take full advantage of it. My mid range feels stronger than before. Had a short season & really couldn't air it out. Really want to hit the lakes again bad.

Don put me in the ballpark of 550.00 with shipping and no case work.
