Putting a 2inch riser in my 1997 SX700, do i need to reinforce the steering post?? simple YES or NO answer, lol....
another simple question, will a 2inch riser of a RX-1, Rage, Vector, Viper, Nytro, Apex, Phazer, and etc. fit my sled?? are they all the same? im looking for a 2inch block style, not pivot, just dont have the $$ to spend on pivot style, maybe next year
Thanks in advance

With just a 2 inch block you should be fine with no reinforcement. I ran one on my sx for 3 years with no problems and a lot of pulling on the bars as well

Thanks musselman, thats a relief, now only to get a 2inch riser

Also does anyone know the answer to part 2 of my question, about which ones fit which sleds?

i have a 98 srx, i epoxy glued a 6" piece of tight fitting gas pipe into the top of the column for reinforcement then cut 4 pieces of smaller pipe and used longer bolts to make the riser
My 99 sx snapped after 2 winters. now is welded and reinforced.
My advise, reinforce it before it brakes.....You know there is a problem with the steering post and risers (that is why you asked)....think that is going to be in the back of your mind on every jump and every pull....(and for what I have seen you like to go fast) mine broke coming down of a nice jump in the middle of nowhere in the UP.....
Do what you think is best.....

Just beat a slightly smaller pipe down in the current stem. All will be fine

From my recolection, in '99 or '00 Yamaha used or uppgraded the steering pole in the sxr's to the one that is used in mtn sleds, also If I am not mistaked the Sxr steering pole is supposed to be longer than the sx or Srx post.<-Correct me if I'm wrong... T
