Hi! I'm Bob. I'm from Green Bay, WI,
I'm "formally" new to this site and would like a chance to introduce myself. I have researched many of things on this site in regards to fixing my vmax (nickname: tank), and have pleasantly found numerous like minded individuals. I recently added yet another Yamaha to my cure the winter blahs, and decided to join. Each of the sleds have an interesting story behind them, as does every sled. I'll share you my experiences.
First off is the 94 Vmax 500. Purchased 4 years ago with 3500 miles for $300. (you read that right!) from a guy at work going through a divorce (timing is everything). Invested a new camoplast track, new carbides, and a new head gasket/rings). She still starts by the 3rd pull every time. I'm thinking it'll survive a nuclear blast.
Secondly is the 99 Srx 700, which I JUST picked up. Paid $1500 for it from a neighbor who is seeking money for a house rennovation (girlfriend's orders). I have only ridden it once a few years ago across Shawno Lake at 120mph, and it wasn't even like riding a sled anymore. Enter Jetski. She needs a new seat, and a box of plugs.
Finally, is that *&*^&^* 89 Indy 650. I didn't even buy it. My nephew's friend dropped it in my drive way, put the bill of sale in my mailbox! needed a complete engine tear down, new skid, new track, new brake caliper yadda yadda yadda. I rebuilt the engine properly. Had it taken in to get professionally tuned (I don't own a carb sync). Bypassed the brake caliper coolant line (dumbest idea Polaris ever came up with, IMHO. Liquid cooled brakes? ) Bought a used skid for $100. Track had another year left, maybe 2. Sold it outright for $900.
So there it is. I look forward to probing your minds for ideas and suggestions so I can keep my Polaris riding friends in my rear view mirror!
