Take at look at the pics of my Dog (Buster). Now does he look alert and full of life or what.Does he deserve anything. He sleeps all day and does nothing. He will perk up when there is food out, otherwise he is a sad site to look at.

House is completely insulated for winter, has 2 windows for viewing and a food tray that you fill from the outside.Had to do this because the neighbours stupid Lab was coming over here eating Buster's food.I fill from the outside and shut the draw.Inside there is a spring Flap cover over the food.I had to train Buster to lift the Flap with his nose and then he could eat.He learned quick,so he isn't as dumb as he looks.lollll.
Take a look at the food dispenser. The dog house has a bedroom with a blanket on the left side, and a lounging room on the right side.I had to put the half moon windows in the doors so he can pop his head up to look out to see who is going by.The house weighs a ton,3/4" fir plywood on the outside and floor.2" styrofoam insulation in the walls and ceiling all covered over with 3/8" Spruce Plywood.Under the floor ,the space to the bottom of the 3.5 by 3.5 treated posts I used for main foundation I also took my Foam gun and sprayed another 3 to 3.5" of foam insulation. This house is warm.
Also going to mount a 50 watt halogen spotlight in the upper back right corner to throw heat for him when it gets really cold. It'll be all metal fixture with mesh wire around it so he can't tear at it.Will put it on a remote switching device I have. With a touch of a button inside the house, will turn on the power to the spotlight.I also have a wire probe I will insert in the house that will pick up the temps in there and I can read it on a monitor inside the garage.
I was bored and had nothing better to do.Oh yeah,it is all painted in and out and also has a plastic corragated liner on the floor to protect the wood from moisture also. There is a partial divider in the middle that will stop any wind or snow getting to him when he lays on the left side. All thought of and only took me like 5 days to complete...He love' s the house.Just threw an old blanket in there and he was at home.

you got that right super1c.But no chance for that to happen. My wife works night shifts. As she works,I sleep. As she sleeps ..I work..lollll good set up.But the dog house is warm inside ,that's for sure.

I don't know If I would feel comfortable with a spot light in my dogs house. I don't know why, but I was in the same situation as you, but Instead of a spotlight, I used a dog heated mat. then again, in the winter, I also use straw, and I didn't want the straw to catch on fire with the spotlight.

it is only one of them tiny halogen spotlight's with the tiny bulb. The whole unit is metal with a metal housing and extrusion.I will also place some commercial grade black wire mesh around it to diffuse the light a bit.He won't touch it.Besides my dog has a tendency to rip up mats and old jackets,blankets..etc.If I have time I might build a solar panel and heat the house with solar energy.I am looking to build some larger panels for heating my house and garage also.I might get into that business and looking for a government grant to start a business on my own to.
I'll take a pic of that light and show you later how big it only is.

He looks fine!

I think he looks just fine but he's probably really bored from listening to you like most of us on here!

Just kidding, just kidding!!!!!

Madmatt

come on now..be nice.I do a nice thing for my dog and just wanted some of you(you know who you are) dog lovers to maybe show some pics of your dog's den. Any other dog house's out there?
I love to build things and for animals to. Remember I built that Skunk trap a while back and got results..it shows I care....lolllllll..Someone I know now wants to borrow that trap to catch a Racoon that is tearing up his place.

My dog has a better house than that...........................he lives indoors with me.woofwoof

You did a awsome job there doug i cant think of mutch but he needs a welcome mat outsde his door and some pawntoons for the next flood!

thanks bluewho. The way the weather has been this spring and summer..the rain hasn't stopped yet.I bet we will into a flood situation next Spring again.Which reminds me..I got to find me a cheap boat and motor.I suppose the dog house will float..pontoons might be the ticket.I wouldn't let a dog in the house.Out in the country, dogs stay out and that is it.
PS: if I put a damn welcome mat in front of his house,he may chew it up..lollll.He has gotton better. When he was young he chewed and clawed everything around here.Drove me nuts.He use to dig the lawn up to and that got me mad.But as he gets older(7 years now) he seems to have settled down.He is a senior citizen now..lolll. Mind you I still have patches of grass missing in my lawn, strips actually from pinning the SRX on it.Oh Well!!!

I hear ya i was born on a farm (raised in a barn some say)and had 2 dogs a old collie that would walk around all limping and hurting untill he heard one of those jigger things the railway used on the tracks 1/2 mile away.He would take off like a deer after it and would take him a 1\2 a day to come back.Dam dog loved corn on the cob and looked pretty funny eating it with his long snout.

We have lots of rain here as well. The sun comes out and will cook you then the rain starts again.

rain like crazy here again to.My dog loves fresh peas from the garden himself. He is scared of certain noises..ie)central vac motor in the garage, thunder, loud gun shot noise's,a backfire from an engine and ..oh..especially when I start swearing and use the F word..he is gone to his house.LOL!!! :dunno:

Thats all my dog does,he sleeps all day get up to eat, pee, poop thats his life. He lives inside though,he also has his own couch to sleep on,spoiled! He does play when you want him to,but usually he just lays around. here's a pic. of what he does best:
