House is completely insulated for winter, has 2 windows for viewing and a food tray that you fill from the outside.Had to do this because the neighbours stupid Lab was coming over here eating Buster's food.I fill from the outside and shut the draw.Inside there is a spring Flap cover over the food.I had to train Buster to lift the Flap with his nose and then he could eat.He learned quick,so he isn't as dumb as he looks.lollll.
Take a look at the food dispenser. The dog house has a bedroom with a blanket on the left side, and a lounging room on the right side.I had to put the half moon windows in the doors so he can pop his head up to look out to see who is going by.The house weighs a ton,3/4" fir plywood on the outside and floor.2" styrofoam insulation in the walls and ceiling all covered over with 3/8" Spruce Plywood.Under the floor ,the space to the bottom of the 3.5 by 3.5 treated posts I used for main foundation I also took my Foam gun and sprayed another 3 to 3.5" of foam insulation. This house is warm.
Also going to mount a 50 watt halogen spotlight in the upper back right corner to throw heat for him when it gets really cold. It'll be all metal fixture with mesh wire around it so he can't tear at it.Will put it on a remote switching device I have. With a touch of a button inside the house, will turn on the power to the spotlight.I also have a wire probe I will insert in the house that will pick up the temps in there and I can read it on a monitor inside the garage.
I was bored and had nothing better to do.Oh yeah,it is all painted in and out and also has a plastic corragated liner on the floor to protect the wood from moisture also. There is a partial divider in the middle that will stop any wind or snow getting to him when he lays on the left side. All thought of and only took me like 5 days to complete...He love' s the house.Just threw an old blanket in there and he was at home.
