So I'm about to take delivery of an '01 SRX...I know it already has Ohlins on the front, but my question is, are they the best Ohlins that will fit the SRX? I noticed that the earlier SRX models had the Ohlins with the piggyback reservoir like the Viper S, [I know the Viper's are longer] and was wondering if the earlier piggybacks are better than the ones on the '01, and if there are any advantages / disadvantages to running either shock, and if the Ohlins piggybacks from the earlier SRX's will bolt up, given the suspension geometry is the same over the years? I also like the look of the reservoir Ohlins better as well.
Pardon all my questions but my only prior experience with Yamaha suspensions is the TSS, and I am new to the SRX family of sleds.
Thanks in advance.

i thought all the ohlins had piggybacks but i could very well be wrong on that since mine doesn't have the ohlins
The front Ohlins shocks are all the same from 98 to 02,piggyback type but I don't know the part number right off.

The only differance in the front ohlins on the srx is the first models had a key to adjust the damping and the newer years have a little wheel or knob built in.All with piggyback as mentioned.

Dam good shocks never rebuilt any of mine and they still work good.
While you are in there flip the top brackets than you can let just a little preload out of the springs for a little more kush for your tush.Try a search there is some info if you are not shure on how to do.

I was actually reading up on that yesterday...on a side note, I was just thinking about how cold the summer has been, and how that will affect this winter!

Well on the bright side were on the down side of summer now as we are into August and the days are getting marginally shorter
.Come on autumn!!!!!

Thats funny you say that. I just got in from a good motorcycle ride, sat down at the computer and logged on to a snowmobile forum. I laughed to myself when I realized what I had done.
