I guess it all depends on how familiar you are with the SRX sleds. When I picked mine up two years ago I didn’t know much about them and it had a pull threw valve. I would check the power valves over and even know he did the top end I would check the compression on all cylinders. My two cents but this might be common cents to yourself.

also check the w arm in the rear suspension for cracks and the primary clutch faces for cracks.

the only way to check for a pull through is to remove the valves and have a look . pulling on the cables from the servo end will only tell if a cable is broke.
good info thanks 9801

Just to add on to what 9801srx said... bring a set of alen keys with you and get him to warm to sled up a bit before you take the valves out because they might come out easier. All you have to do is remove the four bolts for each valve and pull the valves out to see if the cable is connected. If the cable is pulled through the back of the valve get him to take off $150 for every pull through because you will need a new cable and valve.
Let us know how you make out? Good Luck!

Not that I disagree with what tyler proposes, but if I have no idea who you are, I wouldn't let you lay wrenches on my sled. I may pull them for you if requested but I'd expect you to agree to pay for any damage to the gaskets if the valves are good. If he is hesitant, tell him it's a common concern and that if he doesn't know the condition (he should if the "top end" was done), you'll be pulling them anyway for your own piece of mind. May be a term of condition for the sale that brings the price down a bit.
well first of all on the way there stopped to get fuel at the resevation pull the truck in fill up go to leave ---- truck wont start-----wtf batt. is good , banged on the starter nuthin, i am dead in the water -at the pumps-w/the sled trailer -not good-pissed off now- so i push the truck and trailer away and call for a ride anyway went to look at sled hes got the cdi box hanging off it with a jumper wire/ test light from the cdi box to somthing else bad wire or switch not sure he did tell me it ran when first talked to him so i knew about that so he starts it up and it runs /idles terrible

I hear what you are saying snomofo but if the seller is confident to show you a valve it only takes a second to pull the valves out. I was just pissed when I had to spend the extra cash after I found out I had a pulled through valve. If I new about this site when I bought my sled I would have asked the guy I bought my sled off to see the valves.

You have time on your side. You can figure out what parts you need and find them on ebay or these forums in the classifieds etc... This is the time of the year that i do all the work on my sleds so im not stuck waiting for the dealer to order parts while its snowing out. If you can change a starter on a truck you can fix about anything on a sled. Good luck Also i took this from one of your posts -not good-pissed off now- I am going to use that someday lol
full moon last night too, i shoulda known . ----changed the starter in the gravel lot of the gas station today , kinda funny havin every barnyard/backyard knowit all "mechanic" tellin ya what is wrong with my truck . i even had one joker make a crack about my rims being too shiny-wtf. had all i could do to hold back from givin that jacka..s a tire iron tuneup if ya know what i mean. well looks like ill be pickin up the 700 this weekend thanks guys for all the help/input/kind words ill keep yall posted till then keep yer stick on the ice--- thats one i borrowed/stole
