i am looking for some vents for a 99 mountain max and a 03 viper mtn. i want some for the side panels and some that block snow from coming into the existing vents. help please.
 
An easy way to block the existing vents is duct tape. Used to do it all the time on our 97 SX. Works great.
 
blocking the vents off completely is not what we are after. that old girl needs to breathe. we still want the air flow, just don't want the snow that comes with it.
 
For the existing vents, take them out and rivet some pet screen in front of them. And put them back in the hood.


For side panel vents. Make your own, Get some material (plastic or thin alum.) cut out your vents. Rivet 2 layers of pet screen on the outside and one layer or the inside.

My buddy put this stuff on last year called "universal snow prefilter". It looks like real fine screen that you attach onto the inside of your vents. Its amazing stuff, it keeps all the snow from coming through yet lets all the airflow come in. Its real pricey here though, a 18"x18" pce is $43.62 cdn and a 16x24" pce is $48.22 cdn at the supplier we have here. The dealers said there are different brands of the stuff and what they carry is "frogskins" brand. Maybe you can look up this stuff around your area and see what you can get there...the way we get hosed on rec. parts around here, I sure you can get it cheaper...lol. Hope this helps.

I have done the front 2 vents in the hoods. I left them a little loose to let the snow vibrate off. Works great.

I am going to do the belly pan vents this year. I have thin alum. and some screen I bought from home depot. It is not the pet screen, its a insect or a sun blocker. I bougth a roll, I would guess is 3' by 8' roll for around $8.

Go to Home Depot, go to the screen section and find the screen that has very close (almost closed). Open the roll and try to stretch or tear the screen, it is tuff stuff.

There is a thread on SnoWest called something like "make your own vents". If you want tips go find the thread, alot of people doing vents like I discribed.
One point made in theat thread is the 2 layers on the outside 1 on the inside. And if your vents are going to be very big, do not cut the belly pan completetly out. Leave some plastic belly pan to aid in the support.
