i'm going to get a 94 v max 600. to replace the kids(17 yrs.)89 Phazer.what are the pro's & cons.I know the suspesion is a week point(going to swap in a 13.5" zr rear skid. How are the motors?how much HP?i't seems the mileage is not great. The looks are top notch though..Always liked the hood/windsheild looks like Alien.are they fast or just so so.How did they stack up against the competion back in the day.How would it do against a polaris 600 triple? Thanks for any input. Now we need snow.i know it's a little early.
stock hp is 94.
ive had one for three years now and it is the hardest running 600 i have ever seen. Seen 120 on the speedo, taken down a xc 700 without really trying too hard. he got me off the line, but around 40mph, i just walked away from him. I didnt think he was racing until we stopped and he told me he was trying.
Mileage definitely isnt great, and the suspension swap is a VERY good idea.
I kept it stock up until this summer, but now its getting GYTR twin pipes, 03 proaction, gutted airbox, GYTR plastic skis(maybe), and head gasket peel(maybe)
I love my 600.

Will be as fast as if not faster than any non powervalved 600 outthere and as quick as some powervalved motors. I have a friend that has one and it could keep up with my wifes sx700r stock motor. Never could pass me but right on my heals most of the time when i was rideing it. I really like the way the mid to late 90s vmax's look. nice and sleak. IMO

I have a 96XT, still my favorite. Thinned the headgasket and it really woke it up. Cant go wrong

My 95 is stupid reliable, 16000k and still going, all original internals. Have been modding it this summer, last summer added the M-10 Master, perfect now. Pig on gas, pig on weight. Its a strong runner, had it top out at 140kph(250lbs rider, no studs), a cat is faster, but the yamaha will not die, I have been trying. Do the thinner head gasket, stud it, skid it, jet it, clutch it. Fine sled.
and yes, it is a damn secksi lookin machine.

Hey, im looking at a 94 vmax 600 for a beater sled, what is so bad with the rear suspension (i know its nothing compared to my rev i have now for the well maintained trails), the i found is all red, with 55xx miles and rebuilt a 5000, pretty good condition for its year, what should i be looking for partically on this model? thanks
