If i put v force reeds on my sled (stock engine) am i looking as some jetting changes? Also i am interested in boring my stock silencer but was wondering how much lowder it is bc last year in southern VT i was riding the trails with a sno stuff rumble pack (LOUD!!!!!) and was unaware having aftermarket exhaust in VT is illegal, so i pulled around the corner to a road crossing where a sheriff run over to me and lifted my hood
he said he heard me from miles away and even after so a$$ kissing i still wound up with a $600 ticket
.....long story short i dont want another aftermarket loud pipe and am interested in boring the stock silencer but i want to make sure that it wont get me another ticket! Thanks

The stock reeds perform well, really well if you do the reed stopper notch or reed spacer plate. the reason why it works well is it opens the front transfer port for better air flow. If you want more of a performance gain peel your head gasket(tech section) or put an aftermarket head on it, and if you want more still port it. T
P.S.Let me know if you want help with the mods listed later in the post
Boring a stock silencer isn't much louder than stock-lil more raspy.

V-force reeds are $300ish & might give you 1/2 of 1 hp! You might want to re-think that move.

Bored silencer is still too loud IMO, I tried it and put the stocker back on - and it's getting harder to find silencers that haven't been drilled out.
Check the tech pages - reclutch, rejet and peel the head gaskets. (Be sure you can get premium gas before you do the head gasket though.)
Loud sleds are closing trails here in WI, not sure what it's like where you guys are at.

51/43 Helix, stock weights w/4.5g rivet in 1st hole and 3.1g in tip, 2-3 engagement shims, stock springs, 1 or 2 layers removed from head gasket and 22/40 gearing. Jetting: 142.5 mains
I've done all of this and I have to say it works with or without the silencer mod.
Many thanks of course should go to Turk!

I have a bored silencer that will fit your SXR. If you want it I would sell it to you for $50 + shipping. That way if you don't like it you can put your stock silencer back on and resell the bored one. If you drill yours and then don't like it your going to spend well over $50 to get a used/undrilled silencer!

I live in WI and ride atleast 2000 miles a year and have never had anything said to me about my bored can, so its the guys with triple pipes and stinger cans are the ones who are closing trails in WI. And I highly doubt they are actually closing trails, snowmobiling in WI is a huge $$$$ maker for everyone so clsoing trails will never happen.
