I saw a 2001 yamaha sxr 700 with a nice tilt 8x8 trailer for $1100. It has 9500 miles but the guy says its perfect and the pics look really nice. Is this a good deal and how nice are these snowmobiles? Anything I should look for?

Yes, as far is I know that is a great deal, my Dad has an '00 SXR7 and its great, the '01 is even better, with the high output light. the only issue is the W in the rear susp. cracking. Great bullet proof sled. And as far as the trailer, im not sure, but the sled is worth at least $1100 if its in good shape like you stated.
If it where me, I'd buy it, get new pistons and rings for it, check the cylinders for spec and run the dog out of it. Maxdlx
Then I would mod the hell out of it

Sounds Good, is it 8x8 or 8x10? 8' long is kinda short but for the price is great for the sled alone.

I'd buy for that price. Wouldn't think twice about. If the compression's good, I'd ride it the way it is for year or two, before doing anything to the engine.

What should the compression be. I have a tester. Do I just hook it up with all the sperkplugs out and pull start it?

Compression depends alot on the tester, but my 98 700sx has 118-122-121 from clutch to mag side. Warm the engine up, shut it off and pull the plugs and pull 3-4 times with the tester in each cylinder. I'm not looking at the directions right now, I'm pretty sure that what you do.
