I got a few questions, help anyone?
1) what is the maximum track lug lenght i can put on a 1997 SX 700 with stock drivers?
2) How big of a difference does riding with one dogbone out of the sway bar make?
3) how did you reinforce the steering post when putting on risers?
4) Gonna add a tether, is the circut normally open? i think it is.
5) Are all the proaction skidplates the same?
6) how do i measure track pitch, and is 2.52" the only pitch i can use with stock setup?
7) Are there any seats out there that are taller, and sit on the stock gas tanks real nice, (im ok with drilling mounting holes) short of a boss seat that is.
8 ) I'd like to put new skis on my sled, i want much wider ones, are there any reasonbly priced skis out there?
9) Is there anyone that buys old, junk tracks?
10) are you sick of my questions yet?
just need some info before haydays

1. I'm sure you can go to a 1.5 or even 1.75 but that is pushing.
2. Big diference, more tippy and sidehill better.

Some answers in my experience:
1) 1.75 will clear if the protectors are out. Yes it's tight, but it fits, doesn't rub, and works just fine.
2) Don't run any sway bars in my sleds. After a ride or two we never know the difference on the trail.
3) I used a piece of black gas pipe. Ground down to fit very snuggly and beat into place with 3 lb. hammer. Running 7" riser with mx bars. So far no problem.
4) yep - normally open. I like the one at the top of the page: http://www.wps-inc.com/wps/WICATALO...100++++++&SISID=A395&PRVPAGE=237&PAGEGO=Page#
5) Nope - They had different molds for them, but with a little creative cutting all can be made to work.
6) Distance between the bars. Stock is 2.52" Changing pitch will mean changing drivers.
7) Take it to an upholstery shop and have them build you what you want.
I like the USI 301 series. They are wide, turn well, float well, and are fairly cheap used nowdays.

so how would i go about measuring the pitch, would i take a tape measure and measure like thise?
^= lug, l = measuring point,

Sorry for the pathetic little illistration, i couldnt explain it.
I got USI 301 on mine and love them also...bought the at haydays in blue a few years back with shaper bars for 100 bucks, till today I can't believe it...
See you this winter for sure

Modifying your diagram . . .

Or simply count the lugs and divide into the track length i.e. 121 incher with 48 pitches (lugs) = 121 / 21 = 2.52 pitch.

Will a 1.5" lug track fit with stock drivers? It must be really tight then because my cobra is very tight at 1.352".

The old maxx performance catalog says that a 1.5" track is the deepest lug with stock drivers.
With all the protectors out, a 1.75" clears everything. Done it a couple times.
