Just picked up a slightly used Fett Bros. Heavy Hitter kit for my 01 SRX that came off an SRX. I dont know shit about the kit but it came with a Black primary spring and the weights are 48.5 grams.
What should the secondary spring be and is the stock helix ok to use? I'm looking for a general set up...not strictly drag, not strictly trail.

never tried the stock helix w/those weights. also, i believe on fett bros website, they have ballpark setups to try.
I believe that the HH Black Spring was rated at 150/300. I would test it to be sure. Heavier spring to offset the heavier weights.

ding is right if indeed it is the fett bros spring, i have 52 gram heavy hiiters in mine i would think you'd have to load the heck out of the 48s

you do have to load the heck out of the 48.5g weights. load the tip and middle....approx. 4.1g middle and 5.7g tip.
yes, the black heavy hitter spring is a 150/300lbs -- 68/136kg -- 2 kg rate
also, the silver spring that came w/their kits, that were sold thru marshall distributing, was the same as the new black spring. same specs, just different color.

ok......the weights and spring are ready for installation. Any recommendations for a helix and secondary spring? thanks

I would try a Dalton or similar 53/47 helix with a yamaha green secondary spring,60 degree wrap [70 at the most] stock Yamaha SRX belt then make any further adjustments with the primary weights.

for general use i would say green spring @ 60 and 54/44 helix i do have a slightly used dalton 54/46 helix for sale worked pretty good for me with heavy hitters and green @ 60, but i went to a roller that uses a different style helix

hey sideshow the aaens roller i'm putting in has a 52/48 in it, you think i'm going to need to change that it my srx, i like top end so don't know how it'll work out

staggs, your srx should pull that 52/48. of course the amount of weight and how the weight is placed in your H/H's and your secondary spring used, will also play a roll in the recipe.

I run a Team roller secondary on my SRX with heavy hitters...the roller clutches really want to up shift. The beauty of the heavy hitters is the calibration capability, your sled will handle that roller no problem its just a matter of getting the heavy hitters set up for your individual sled.

the secondary spring is brown and i'm assuming it's an aaens spring. the clutch has 3 base holes and 5 cover holes, similar to a cat secondary, don't even know where to begin on the wrap, was going to try where it is and go from there. any ideas?

Never had anything to do with the Aaen secondary rollers.
