I just bought an M-10 (121") and will be putting it in my Viper. I need a new track, so I am wondering if buying a set of extensions for the M-10 and going to a 136" track is a good choice? I do mostly trail riding, so would the extra length be of any benefit? What are the advantages and disadvantages of going to a longer track?

All benifit unless your strictly a lake racer.

More traction
Better ride
More off trail ability

Just my opinion, but I don't see the point of a 136" on an M10 if you are strictly a trail rider. Unless you just like spending the money, or if you like to get off the trail once in a while. I can definately see the benefit if you like go off trail once in while. But that's just my thoughts.

I have a 97 MM 600 with a 136" Love it for trail riding here in Wis handles the rough trails very nice and you dont feel all the bumps. I am currently building a SSX 600 with a 121" I will be interesting to see the ride difference this winter seeing I haven't ridden a 121" in 12 years. Good Luck with your project.

you'll need a tunnel extension too.

with an m-10, if you're just trail riding, i don't think its necessary as i didn't do it to mine. if you had the proaction, going to a 136 would be more of an improvement.

but.....a 136 will be more stable and bridge the bumps better even with an m-10. top speed is still comparable to a 121. for a little more money now, i would just go with the 136 setup. i plan on doing that when this track is shot just to try something different.

if money is super tight right now, don't feel too bad about not going 136 as the difference is hardly night and day. but the 136 would be better overall

I did'nt forget about you on the dimensions to put that skidframe in your sled, its coming!

IMO 121 M-10 is ok, with a 136 I am comfortable riding in 3-4' bumps with the throttle pinned. But it has been a long time since I have seen bumps like that with the amount of trail riding I do.
