Pulled my 01 out of storage this weekend. Completely gone through by dealer at the end of the season. Cleaned valves and carbs. Added startron greased everything and wrapped her up.

Typical start up. Choke and pull 6-7 times and she fires up. But bogs real bad. Flip choke off and on to keep her running. Can only keep her running with light throttle. After a few minutes, I start to open her up and try and clear things up. Idles down, stalls and backfires. Never had this problem.

Any ideas?

Is this gonna be another bad season coming with the gas out there now.Are we going to see more burn downs again.Last season was bad for a lot of guys.

Just cant have the gas now days sitting in the carbs for months on end... Your pilots probably have crud in them...

Pulled my other toys out of storage. 76 SRX..3 pulls, runs mint. 95 vmax 4....3 pulls, runs mint. ...go figure. The newer, better maintained, more bullet proof engine is the one with the problem.

Re-fire the sled and quickly touch each pipe going back and forth you should find that one is staying cooler because that plug is fouled. SRXs on cold start-up have been known to foul a plug especially if it's first start of the year and the engines been fogged.

My 01 SRX did the EXACT same thing last year. all three pilot jets were dirty. had them cleaned and it idled and ran perfectly.

Pilot jets. You should have the dealer go through them at the beginning of the season, not end. Fuel in bowls evaporates over the hot summer and leaves a residue. Then you pull on it and new fuel fills the bowls with all that residue/crud floating in it and the pilots suck in the crud and become plugged. If a plug was fouled, it wouldn't run fine once you rev it up off the bottom end. It took me about six weeks to get around to storing my sled after last ride last season, pilots plugged after I started it up to unload off the trailer into the shop to summerize and store, even in that short amount of time.
