I'm seriously considering putting an Airwave in my '04 Viper ER. I'm not worried about the loss of top end, weight transfer concerns me only a little. I considered the AD Boivin ZX2, but I think I'm looking for more of a plush ride as opposed to an always aggressive skid.
Has anyone else put one in with the onboard compressor? Any pictures or installation advice? Just curious how big the compressor is, & where is a good place to mount it. Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated.
Thanks
Chad

I have the first one that FAST put in a viper back in ’06. They have improved the design in several areas since then so it is better than ever. The compressor is smaller than your fist and is mounted on the inside of right foot well next to the chain case cover. There is enough clearance to be able to remove the chain case cover without removing the compressor. The gauge and switch are located on the hood to the left of the steering post (where the warning sticker is located). I like the compressor so you can quickly adjust for temp changes, trail roughness, and if you have to ride double for some reason.
Plush is the best way to describe it. My next sled will have one regardless of the brand. Its cashy, but man what a difference in ride.

Thanks for the reply Thumper1. I figure I'll hold onto this sled for another year or two, & then I'd like to put the stock skid back in & transfer the airwave to whatever I get next. Is it possible to mount the gauge & switch in such a way that you don't cut into the stock parts? I'm thinking maybe a bracket that comes through by the "vents" by the pull cord?
Again, thanks for the reply. I'll be ordering in the next day or two.

on Fast's website there is a picture of it mounted on a rx-1 under "NEWS".

when you talk to FAST, ask them about the oil weight in the rear FOX rebound shock. they can change the weight of the oil based upon your weight and riding style. i think it comes with 5wt and i ended up having them put 10wt in since i weight 260ish. helps control bottoming more and slows the rebound down a smidge as well. it was a noticeable improvement. (or maybe it was 10wt and they added 15wt?)

I just spoke with TeamFast & they said I should be fine with the shocks. They also gave me some good ideas for mounting the switch & gauge.
