I've got a customer who has a Mountain max with some triple pipes (not sure brand, but they have 3 separate stingers). He was running his stock clutching with these pipes and grenaded his primary. Now he wants to buy a newer SRX primary from me with 8DN20 weights, and a blue primary spring. He wants to take the sled to Wyoming this winter and I've got a lot of other stock clutch parts so I'm trying to help him get his sled dialed in better than just throwing something at it and hoping for the best. Does anyone have a good clutching setup for a 700 triple with pipes? Something that works at sea level and 9,000-12,000ft would be best, since he rides in the UP of Michigan too. I've got 8DN10's, 8DN20's, Stock Viperweights (8EK I think), plus some others. The secondary is stock he claims.

as the different brands of pipes exist, so does the clutching for them. A picture is worth 10000 words.
Going to require two different setups to work right at altitude and in the flats. Mountain clutching will over rev down low.

grapeape,
That's what I told him, he's technology challenged so he's got to wait for his wife to take some pics and email them for him.
Ryan,
When we see the pipes, do you think there might be a compromise setup where he won't have to swap the clutching? This guy doesn'thave any clutch tools and he's not too bright. He bought a secondary from me on Ebay thinking it was a primary clutch....doh!

You gotta change clutching & jetting. There won,t be any compromising. There is a huge difference in the way the sled is set up for both elevations.
The clutching & jetting "MUST" be changed!!!!!

Pretty much what Turk said. They just won't work with the same set up in both locales.

They look like my benders. I would have to agree with Bob.
Benderoonies they are!
I ran 4 sets of em up high & down low. The difference between low & hi altitude set up ain,t even close.

Ok if I give you guys a list of weights and springs I've got can you give me a decent clutch setup for high&low altitude using some of the parts I've got. I've got midterms this week so I'll put together a list over the weekend. Thanks for the help!
Pretty sure that someone can. Turk knows his stuff and there are lots of others that have ran them. My redhead went from stock single to ported and piped with no stops inbetween so I can't really help you on a stock motor with pipe setup. Probably some info in the tech pages though. I'd start looking there.

Ok to start with which weights and please specify for elevation or sea level setup. 8DN10's, 8DN20's, or the ones he has in his clutch right now 8CR's and if you got a stock Yamaha spring choice to go with the weights let me know that too.
NOTE: 1997 MM700 w/ Bender Triple pipes and V-force reeds, secondary is stock (at least that's what I'm told).
Thanks in advance guys, and please respond asap as I've got the 8DN10's up on ebay right now so if you guys thin they will work best for this guys sled, I have to yank the auction.

No problem.... I've sold $3K in parts in the last 2-1/2 weeks, apparently not everyone thinks my prices are high.
Most of my prices are with best offer so if you feel it's too high and you want the part make an offer. I will accept or counter all offers even the ridicuous ones like a guy offering $100 for a Viper Reverse Kit.
