That much I have figured out, but how is it attached/made? If I buy a P-85 or Comet primary, will I be able to make it work with the oil injection?

Here is a pic of the two cases. The larger detail is the one I presently have and the smaller detail, bottom left enclosed in red, is the case I need. Notice that while both cases accept the old style jugs and transfer ports, the one in the smaller detail has threaded bosses to attach the oil pump gear drive box. Thanks to all who have responded. Hey Gorkon, I sold my 70 SS396. I have a NOS SS396/338 seat cover if your interested.

Your message is timely as have in fact been working on the seat lately.
I just located the original seat material and was about to order it. I have a local upholsterer that is all flanged up to do the work and have been working rebuilding the seat base. Had to replace a lot of rusty metal and the plywood. Surprisingly the three wood strips on the base are oak and were okay. I have them attached to nice piece of US Marine grade plywood and well coated with wood preservative.
Have to get the metal sandblasted and painted now, assemble it and I'm ready to go. Thanks Mark, I look forward to hearing from you. G.

Here is what many years of tavern rides looks like. Original 396 ran for two years and smoked the jug. We have since replaced the motor a few times, GP 433 and now a Sno Jet 338. Still gets me to the tavern on "lake effect" days.
I have run out of gas and smoked a piston twice, believe the pipes are to blame ? Mix my gas and oil now, no problems. We also put a slide suspension under it, kept throwing boggy wheels. Guys would always complain I was shooting wheels at em cruising across the lake. Whatever

My track and suspension are in good condition, but I will not use it. I blew a few of the tracks in the day and as for the suspension, what can you say. Hoping to put a Phazer skid in mine. Never experienced any problems with 71 SS 433. My best friend rode with me on a 72 GP 433 and no problems there either. We did however kill everything in town with those two sleds, if guys were complaining you were throwing wheels, at least that shows they were behind you! Thanks for posting. G.

Busy man me. Its been awhile since I last posted on my progress, darn life keeps getting in the way! Or, my drinking team has a snowmobile problem. Yeah, that's it.
Got custom decals made, the pipes ceramic coated and got the seat done. It is covered in the original material and cost a small fortune as did the pipes, but the finished sled will be pretty awesome in my mind. Yes I'm crazy and don't deny it, so there's no need to point that out. Been working on some composite-skis but just haven't had the time to finish them. Picked up an 88 Exciter skid that I would like to use and have even been toying with the idea of punching the 338 to a 350. I'll get there, without woman again, so time should be available. Anyway, enjoy the pics, I hope the next update doesn't take quite so long. G.
