So I pulled the chaincase and everything apart a few days ago to replace driveshaft bearings, and when reassembling I cannot figure out or remember for the life of me how or where these 2 collars/bushings came from. I think they go on the bottom shaft somewhere but I'm not really sure. I have looked at a diagram but its really hard to tell how it goes. Can anyone help?

I believe these are spacers that go behind the actual gear when yu are reasembling. one for the top and one for the bottom.
could be wrong but I just did mine and I had one on each spline.

If they are the ones that are the same basic size with the o-rings in them(which they look to be), on goes on the lower shaft behind the chaincase, and the other goes on the lower shaft behind the gear.

I know one of them doesn't go behind the lower gear because I have that one. These two are both the same sizes and are about 13mm wide/thick. They do however slide onto the lower shaft pretty easily so I think they may go on the lower in some configuration. Thanks for the manual Snowbear.

Spacers

I believe that one of them goes on the top shaft after the gear is on. (between the gear and bearing/cover)

Before installing the chain check the alignment with a metal ruler or a straight edge.

Good Luck!

One goes behind the chaincase on the lower drive shaft but I cannot seem to find where the 2nd one goes by looking at the diagrams.

I think that they are the spacers that the seal runs on because they have the oring inside that seals them to the shaft. Are they both the same length? I just did my 98 sx and I am sure that they are the spacer the seal runs on.
