I have a 1994 Vmax 500. It has the M10 suspension on it and darts pretty bad. I know the pogo sticks aren't the best front suspension but gotta work with what we got. It darts really bad and my dad is riding it this year and was wanting any suggestions on to improve handling. We were thinking about studding it and some ski's. What kind of studs if any or what kind of skis would you put on this older machine? Any recommendations? Thanks

Not sure how the M-10's are set-up as i have no experience with them, but too much ski pressure will cause darting. If you can loosen a limiter strap or change the transfer settings to get a little bit of weight off the ski's it will get rid of some of the dartyness. Studs will only make it worse. I stuck with my stock ski's, usually used a 6 inch carbide, nothing special. I could never get it to handle quite as well as the pro actions i had but i had it handling pretty good before I sold it.

I think skis would help and maybe dual track carbides. I keep getting told ATS Arrow twin keel skis eliminate the darting but this year I am trying ATS razor dual carbides to keep mine from darting. I put a chunk of rubber at the back of my ski saddle as well to see if it helps. I think there is an article in the tech pages here on it.
Good luck in your quest.

Check your skis toe in/out. I run mine out 1/2" to 1" more in the front than the back. Check your M-10 chart suggested settings for weight of rider also.
could always retrofit viper skis on for more agressive ski and better carbide choices.

Add on Viper skis with anti-dart carbide runners and make suer your toe in and suspension is set up right. Maybe let out some of the front limiter strap.

I ran dualie carbides for a season on my 94 vmax 600 and I hated them, I found it made the front end really grabby, more darty. I ran a set on my viper and I found them totally opposite however I had a lot of weight transfer dialed in and it was very light on the ski's under throttle. I found they didn't work to well on the vipers and SRX's too well. If you loosen your limiter straps, you'll notice it won't be darty when you are on the throttle. But beware when you let off the throttle hard and transfer weight to the ski's it will be grabby again.
Have always had good luck with SLP_SLT's,,, nice rocker design skies.... Using keel blade with 5" carbide....

What do you mean by limiter strap? Thanks guys for the information. Maybe were in need for a nicer set up skis instead of the studs.
Limiter Strap
It is the straps in the front of the rear suspesion. These limit the down pressure on the front part of the rear suspension. By loosening (making them longer) them it will put more pressure on the front part of the rear and take some pressure off your skis. Check your manual if you have one. If not let me know; maybe I can fax you a page or two.
I'm not sure what it would take for your sled (TSS) but I have put Ski-Doo pilot skis on my Vector and WOW what a difference. No darting/searching at all. It makes for a more enjoyable day when you don't have to fight it anymore.
Good Luck!

check your toe on your ski's, you always want the front of the ski's to point slightly out. having them point in causes darting, that is where i would start.
