Those are maxx perf rods. Stiff? Those made my suspension seem much softer and compliant. Are you sure you got the right length ones?

I don't know if they are the correct length. What is the correct length?

I see you still have the srx bushings on the tranfer rods with the long travel, You need to buy some viper bushings they are only an 1/8 of an inch thick this should extend your rods the right lenght it will give you an extra 1/2-3/4 of an inch of play!

I'll change them up and check it out...weird because those are the spacers that came with the Kit, maybe a mixup.

I thought the viper rods where bolted alittle further back I remember haveing to take my back wheels off to remove the bolt.....

Try placeing a block of wood under both skis around 1 1/2 thick and than sit or push down on it.

Looking at the parts diagrams the SX and SRX skid shows the rod in the same hole. The upper rod portion however has a different part number 8ED-4745A (SX) vs. 8CR-4745A (SRX).
Does anyone know if I need the SX upper rods or can I get away with what I have? Is it just the spacers?

rod placement
your rods are in the wrong holes they need to be in the back ones!!!!

If I do that won't it pull the suspension down even more and tighter on the bottom stops? Maybe I am over thinking....Also there is an aluminum shaft the rods are connected to between the skid rails. If I move them to the back I'd have to get rid of the shaft and use nuts?

Has the front end been lifted. If not the sled is trying to go down a hill/slope whatever?
There is no yamaha spec for this,it will be trial and error untill you have it were it will work.

No not yet. I have the long travel kit for the front to install as well. Once I do that I will check it. It is definitely slanted towards the front. The rear of the track is off the ground. I just wanted to make sure the rods were the correct length. I measured a Viper and the top part of rod, top axle back to bolt on end it was roughly 12.5". The rod on mine is barely 12". That would lead me to believe the rods are too short as well as the front not being up.
If this is on a 2001 srx, they have shorter rods than a viper.. Yamaha from 2000-2002 on the srx went to shorter rods for more transfer by mounting them in front of the rear wheels. If your rod length is as long as a viper rod, you need to mount it in the hole further back in the rail. (that hole is still there in the newer rail) you will have to remove the shaft where you have them mounted now.. Do not tighten the track where they are at now our you will bend the relay rods...(bars along each side of the rear shock).. You may need a thinner washer on the bottom also.......

Thats why I changed my bushings it gives the extra 1/2-3/4 inch The bushings are only a few dollars each

You guys are all right...nobody wrong. The front of the sled has alot to do with the way the suspention works with the middle axle shock mount being pulled back when there is weight put on the seat.
If the sled is pointing down hill there is more weight on the skis and less on the rear,
That is why i suggested the wood under the skis to mimic the proper front height and try the rear travel. You will find the spacers will have to be changed again.Cut them down with a saw and when it is allready to install the bottom bolts back in the rods do not pull the rods down....only shim so they bottom out against the shim.

With longer transfer rods mounted in the front hole the geometry is way off,, you will not have any suspension at all... It will put it in a position that will not let the suspension work (travel),, and will bend suspension and rail components....

I will give this a shot...leave the rods where they are (I have the shorter SRX ones) and shim...thanks everyone for the input..

NOt meaning to hi jack this thread, but i put bender Tc3 t-rods on my 01 srx and it is not long travelled... i had to mount these rods int he further back holes for them to work... i have a 50/50 gap maybe 60/40 when i'm not on the sled.... Are these t-rods useless unless i get a long travel kit for the back? I had t hem on all last season and i honestly didn't notice a huge difference between these ones and the stock ones...
Some one shed some light on this maybe?
Thanks
