everyone's '04 viper handwarmers worthless?

i know mine are. the only time i ever have to turn them down from full high is when it is over 35 F degrees.

i'm gonna see if rockmeisters hot hands for the 4 strokers will work on the viper.

I replaced mine last year with brand new Yamaha blue hot grips. They did improve alot. Not perfect or scorching hot, but way better than before. I've heard over time the internal heating wires/elements can get cut, diminishing heat.

wow there must be something wrong with mine then , the only time i turn mine up over 1/2 way it when its below zero. above zero out its at half or lower.

i replaced the grips last year, no change. i had them checked out by the dealer when i first got the sled and they were within "acceptable parameters". which means they weren't very hot to start with.

with prior sleds, i was able to wear thinner gloves but now have to wear thicker gloves (which are not as comfy) or resort to puss mitts when it gets real cold.

5,000 miles and mine work like new yet. They work great. Do you have a low windshield?

nope, tall windy, i'd freeze completely with a short windy. they have been this way since day 1. might be something have to live with. don't really feel like putting on hot grips, but that would definitely solve the problem. although not very factory.

Honestly, I have had 2 04 viper s' and never had had cold hands, even down to -40°F (thanks to gauntlets!) Maybe double check all of your connections?

My gloves would feel like they are on fire if I turned them up all the way to high. Last year running across lake Vermillion @ -28f air temp, I had to turn the dial all the way to high.

only the '04 viper has lower heat output. everything year prior to that was like hanging onto fire. it was when yamaha moved the switches to the handlebars that the heat output was decreased.

rode a week in january when the temps were -35f last year and i was fine when usuing guantlets as well. on my pre-'04 sleds, i wouldn't have even to have had to use the guantlets at that temp. my connections are fine. there is heat, just not much of it, like on past sleds.

just seeing if someone had figured out a way to increase the heat output. i doubt it, cause i thought i would have heard something by now.

rockmeister is looking into whether his systme will fit on a viper. it should. the only issue would be whether it will work without a battery.

I've noticed lower heat output if I am just putting along I guess, but it's not usually a problem.
