Hey Guys Just Getting Ready To Clean The Carbs And Get The Sled Ready For The Season. Question Last Season At The End Of The Year My Sled Started To Have A Bit Of An Hanging Idle. Nothing To Drastic But Annoying To Say The Least. I Pulled The Carbs And They Were Spotless And All Adjustments Were Good. Any Way I Finished The Season With The Sled The Way It Was. But Now Im Wondering Could I Have A Bad Set Of Reed Pedals That May Cause This? I Dont Know Just Thowing It Out There And Wondering If I Should Inspect While Im In There.
Thanks Jdp

As long as your that close to the reeds might as well check. Hows the throttle and oil pump cables?
Cables are all good that's why I'm wondering about reeds.
Thanks

The hanging idle is a sign of a lean condition. The fuel screws all three need to be adjusted for a little more fuel. Back out all three screws 1/8 turn.
Thanks I will give it a shot

I have been down this road once or twice. I have been lucky and never had a bad crank seal. (easy to check motor at idle spray carb cleaner around all seals make sure you have no change in rpm) I have found the idle screws require adjustment due to crappy ethanol in the fuel. also had to replace the little tiny oring on the idle jets due to cracking/shrinking. As stated by MAC a few posts back try going 1/8 turn further out on the idle screws and see where that gets you. So.....
#1 check for cranks seal leak.
#2 check idle screw orings
#3 if all other check good 1/8 turn further out (be gentle when screwing in all the way seats are fragile.
Hope this helps

yEah not every single engine is the same as well as there COULD be wear on the slides of the carbs allowing more air around, especially if there is higher mileage. Just back the screws out a little more to tune YOUR sled and not just what a manual says.
