amsoil......interseptor.....= 1 store = $14 per litre
I REALLY don't want to BLOW YOUR BUBBLE,,,but,,, YAMALUBE and WAL MART oil is the EXACT SAME THING..... ( and Wal mart is HALF the price) ARE you SURE you'd NEVER run wal mart oil ?????????????mtnmaxman600@yahoo.com said:Only Yamalube in my MtnMax but I am going to try AMSOIL in the SX that I am building. I know a guy that runs wal-mart oil in his polaris and love it. I wouldnever use it. I am a firm believer that you get what you pay for.
Your CRANK BEARINGS RUSTED because you DID NOT properly STORE your sled or PROPERLY FOG the motor (or at LEAST put those plastic spark plug moisture dessicant thingy's in)... PLEASE don't BLAME SYNTHETIC oil for YOUR BAD SUMMERIZE!!!musselman said:I ran synthetic in my sled for the past 2 seasons and when I rebuilt the engine over the summer I notice some very faint traces of rust on my crank bearings. The shop that installed the new bearings said that this was due to using synthetic oil. He said it actually doesn't stick to the engine parts which lets moisture get at the crank and bearings over the summer, rusting them. I'm not sure how accurate this is but I'm going to stick with just plain old yamalube or some other conventional oil. Anyone else here anything like this?

i agree with nosboy, it was not the oil, but failure to fog properly for storage, which is more important now with the crapinal fuel, and just for info a tech checked fuel from all stations in town and found crapinal in all samples but one preimium from believe it or not kwik trip,

Stick with Yamalube, or a better synthetic. The Walmart cheap stuff....i.e. Penzoil...(Yellow Bottle Flu)..be prepared for a bad season and go through lots of plugs...so you don't save anything buying the cheap oil. Tried it once a long time ago...lesson learned.

I used Yamalube up until last year then started to get Citgo Sea and Snow. Little cheaper and virtually the same thing.

I have had castrol in my sled since new 15000km's untouched and no plug fouling.

Yamalube is made by Citgo as are 98% of two stroke oils. The citgo sea and snow oil is the exact same stuff as yamalube at a fraction of the cost. They actually bottle the yamalube at the citgo refinery. I have ran it in all my sleds with great results....no carbon build up or seizures and clean piston wash too. A case of it around here runs about 50 bucks which equals 3 gallons.

That is the same oil I run in my ported SRX. 11-12 years and no crank bearing rust, oh ya, I fog mine before I put it away for any length of time.

can you mix the old oil with synthetic? or should you drain all the old out first

Either run the old down to a safe low level or drain it out and put new in,they can mix but your not getting the full benefits of the synthetic if you do.
DAMAN... (SHELL ULTRA) It's for sale up here in Canada at Canadian Tire. Best prices usually occur at beginning and end of season... approx. $30/3.78L

I see not to bad $$...
KLOTZ if for no other reason it smells good
All I will say is that there are quite a few oils that are as good or better in many ways than Yamalube and can be purchased at a cheaper price. All oils are not created equal, so do your research.
