riser blocks

hi i want to put a 3'' riser on my handlebar but want to keep the stock throttle cable and brake cable parking brake blah blah and i was wondering if with 3'' i would be good to go or if i should go with a 2'' i would like 3'' it goes for a better ride since i am fairly tale and so some mountain climbing with my sled aswell..
