i have a 00 vmax 700 that needs a new track. which model of the ripsaw do i need? 9921? any other suggestions on a good track?

thanks

I am also looking at buying a ripsaw, 1 1/4" clipped every third, Why are the new tracks clipped every third? and one only one of three?

I'm no expert but I've just been through the learning process as I also needed a new track too. For the 700's you can go 1.25" but then you don't have the option of studding without other modifications. If you go with a 1" track like the carve (formerly called predator), you can stud it. That is what I did on the advice of others because of the fact that I mostly trail ride groomed and ungroomed. I think that the 1.25" tracks might have made more sense if I was a deep snow or powder rider. As far as clips go, I think it's just price point. You can save $20 by buying a track clipped every 3 rd window which also saves a little weight although some have said that your hyfax will suffer. I went with hte carve and then drilled the track for 144 studs. Had I to do it over, I think I would have gotten the pre-drilled camoplast carve for a few extra dollars and saved myself several hours work. Not that it wasn't fun, but the carve track pattern isn't easy to sneak 144 studs into and camoplast already has it fugured out. If you've already made up your mind on the ripsaw, it's a good track too.

I'd run a ripsaw - great track for the trail and light off trail duty. I have a ice ripper on my viper s and a ripsaw on my wife's xtc - both great tracks. Both are fully clipped.

I just got a new track I was going to get the 1.25" ripsaw ....but I got the kimpex shotgun X 1.25" instead can't wait to try it out ...Im unsure about kimpex quality but others have good reviews. on this track specificley ... and the tecnology at kimpex has really improved so im counting on that, not to let me down ...
Even though the Camoplast Ripsaw is proven ...

All of our other sleds are studded, maybe I should go with a 1" ripsaw and stud with 1.125. I runn 144 in the other std tracks. We do not run lakes but alot of miles in MN, WI, UP and Lower MI. Al

Go with the ripsaw or ice ripper - all the same places I ride and have only missed studs one day in 5 years. Two years ago I started riding with another guy that has 144 in a 1" hacksaw and another guy with a ice ripper. After that one icy day I decided to try the ice ripper. I like it a lot - more traction on the ice without all of the install problems of studding a 1.25" track. Ice ripper only weighs like 3 or 4 pounds more than a ripsaw. 99% of the time, I do not miss studs at all.

i put on a 1.25 ice ripper on my 700 venture it works very well . the stock track with studs and 200 trail grabbers would spin at 40 mph . not any more.

i didnt know that the choice was 1.25 inch without studs or 1 inch with studs but it makes sense. thanks for all the input

Depends on if you tail ride hard or not. That and off trail playing. I had a friend buy a new 1 1/4 ripsaw got 1.5 yr out of it tor off all out side lugs. I have 1 1/4 preditor on my sxr 700 and it is ripping out side lugs off. Ruff hard tail riding i would go with 1" track and studs down center. Thats what i am gonna do next time. That just my two cents if worth anything to ya.

i loved the ripsaw on my sx500r once i got used to it. it grabs really well on trail. still on the stock track on my war so far. i would reccoment the clipped every window as it lubes the slides better and if you want to run extroverts later, it is already ready to go.

i might be going sixpitch myself when it is time for new rubber on the war but the track on there is still good for a lot of miles yet.

6679-9968H This is the part number for a full clip 1 1/4 121 X 15 Ripsaw track. The cheapest cost I have found is $410.88 Anyone found any cheaper for the fully clipped track?

You are going to love that track. I put over 1000km on mine last year and it still looks new. Soucy Canada made that track for Kimpex, and they did a fine job - gotta love supporting our (remaining) manufacturers.

I didn't stud it last year, but I will before this winter - bonus - predrilled!

From Camoplast's website:

Corporate Headquarters Camoplast Inc.

2144 King West, Suite 110
Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada, J1J 2E8
Tel.: (819) 823-8710
Fax: (819) 823-8772

Either way I think you'd be supporting one of your last manufacturers? Did I miss something? Are Kimpex and Camoplast both Canadian companies?

The guy who started the thread is from Illinois, so not to mention great prices, but shipping would be cheaper and he would get it faster from Bruce at CB.
