What happened to your stock muffler experiment?

I'm still looking for an MBRP myself. 3:16 you just couldn't resist the aftermarket triple sound now could ya

ran a radar run with an 01 all strapped down Saw 121 mph. Put on a Bender can & saw 119. Put the stock can back on & 121 returned. Same day same conditions back to back run.

Wow thats interesting. What part of the bender can would have caused a drop in speed, the design of it? Too restrictive or not enough?

LIKE I SAID, WHEN I WANT A HEADACHE , I,LL THROW IT ON. 3:16 (yammie tony)

I like the sound of the aftermarket can also. I have a 97- 600 twin in my mtnmax with a MBRP race can I have been tuning my sled for grassdrags this Sat. I got my rpm's at about 7650 to 7750 rpm with the weights and springs I have in it but also want to run the stock 600 class so I though the stock muffler back on and my rpm's went up to 7900 to 8000 rpm's couldn't believe it I made a couple of run and sure enough my rpm's and higher with the stock can than with the aftermarket one.

Turk, are you sure your clutching was right?..................before anyone puts a contract out on me, I am only kidding!

Not trying to steal this thread but..... has anyone disassembled a BENDER can to see if there is any packing inside or is it just baffels??? Just curious if some fiberglass packing could lower the noise level without hurting performance any more?????

Headache for you and everyone else around you......including landowners, which trails run through their property. If there are no gains to be had (actually performance loss)..why?

Yes they do use packing material that does eventually wears thin. I talked to bender about packing the can,,, they suggest to pack it lightly,, the more you pack it, the louder it gets...

X2 - Other than the weight change (which can be substantial), is it worth having a "cool" sounding sled if there is no place to ride?

"Cool," yes it is. And place to ride? Dont matter what you say. As long as the urban crawl goes on, there will be less places to ride. I'd bet my leaf blower and or lawn tractor makes more DB's than my Bender Pipe... people just dont like you riding across thier sh_t... and noise is a great excuse. Sorry, my .02.

Agreed that urban sprawl also reduces areas to ride, but you want to add to it by pissing on land owners that have gone out of thier way to accomodate us?

If what you say was true, the land owner would have told the DNR to pound sand the first time they approached them with a proposal for access across THIER land. Its tough enough already gaining access to private land and you want to compound the problem because you like being loud... and slow?

Your quest for cool ends when it encroaches on my and other's quest to ride.

We can all point the finger at you and your 'tude when it comes to enforcing noise level regulations and trail closings. Is it too much to ask that you think about the generosity of others?

I figured my post would wake some of you loud and proud trail closers.

Well said... ;)!
