3:16 The Anti '' Can '' Man.

I THINK I WILL PUT MY BENDER CAN ON MY SRX, THAN I WILL INVITE ONE OF THESE HARLEY DAVIDSON MOTORCYCLES IN THAT FLY UP MY ROAD EVERY HOUR OF THE DAY AND NIGHT. BET YA THE HARLEY LOUADER. 3:16 (yammie tony)

exactly....those harleys are way louder and can get away w/everything and there's lots of them. then some fella puts a can on his sled and everyone's undies get in a bundle. give me a break. not to mention, that the time span to drive our sleds, is far less than a motorcycle, so you hear our sleds less than you hear those loud harleys. tony, can on!! LOL.

NO UNFORTUNALEY MORE STATE POLICE, DEC, OR TOWN COPS OWN HARLEYS THAN SNOWMOBILES. 3:16 (yammie tony)

EXACTLY!

they'll pull over a loud pickup, but a harley that is twice as loud, they look the other way. we have laws about loud stereos but no one thinks twice about a loud harley. what a joke.

the only people that think loud pipes save lives are ignorant when it comes to sound waves and acoustics.

While I agree that H-Ds are out of control when it comes to noise, but think about who the typical land owner is who allows access and where he lives.

More than likely it is very remote and he isn't used to Harleys running up and down his dirt road day and night and has grown accustom to quite. The DNR come along and asks if they can run a snowmobile trail through his land and he agrees.

Then comes the sled season and his quite home is no longer quite. Then he finds some "snowmobilers" running off trail tearing up land he didn't agree to allow access.

What would you do if you were him?

I'm not saying it's fair that H-D riders are allowed to run with open pipes nor am I suggesting they are any less quite. But as Staggs65 said, they aren't at the mercy of land owners like we are. And I'm not saying some land owners aren't pricks. But if not for land owners, many of our trails (in Michigan anyhow) would not be connected.

I had a running fued with the guy down the street for a couple years. He'd fly by running his opened piped twin through the gears and he'd expect a solute from me and I'd get the same. Then one day before the season started I had my sled on the trailer and decided to take off the can and allow the uncorked stingers to do the talking in his driveway at 6:00 am.

We are good friends now and he still rides with open pipes but he's in forth gear at 25 mph. I convinced him that not everyone liked his open pipes and he is very respectful now.

I like the sound of these straight through glass packs as much as the next guy, but if it means pissing off someone who was kind enough to allow me access to his property, I'll stick with the stock can.

"Cool," yes it is. And place to ride? Dont matter what you say. As long as the urban crawl goes on, there will be less places to ride. I'd bet my leaf blower and or lawn tractor makes more DB's than my Bender Pipe... people just dont like you riding across thier sh_t... and noise is a great excuse. Sorry, my .02.

We have closed parts of a trail that ran across our land for two reasons:

1.) and the main reason, people not being able to stay on the designated trail, even though it was marked properly.

2.) Loud pipes. We were sick of hearing the really loud sleds @ midnight. You knwo who you people are, the ones with barely any stingers on pipes, and the ones that make others plug their ears when you pull under a gas station canopy.

i live right next to the "trail" that leads into town. sleds pass within 50 ft of my house. some ride through my yard, most stay on the other side of the road. surprisingly, i haven't heard or been awakened by "loud" pipes yet. maybe they aren't as popular in our area.

My friend used to ride an AC, that was extremely loud. It sounded like it had straight drag pipes.

The noise didn't bother us too bad, but it really bothered the neighbors, so we decided to do the right thing for the neighborhood and close the trail.

We did allow the trail to pass through another part of our land, but they are still not staying on the trail like they should.

i do have a rumble pack for my rev and hauck growlers for my srx. my rumble pack is quiet under 6000 rpms, which is awesome, cause i can keep it quiet when going thru towns and such @ night. i do be respectful w/it. i can put myself in the landowners shoes and see how some of them may not like the noise, but they could also look @ how the snowmobilers bring $$$ to the community, and deal w/the few loud ones for a few months?? also, now that i think of it, not many piped/canned sleds around my area here for the last 3 yrs or so.

All the rednecks move out of Manitowoc? J/K.

We live in Northern WI, Between Superior and Brule. No $$ come to our town, since we live in the country, but I know where you are coming from.

County of Bayfield now has a Db limit of 85 db I beleive.

But yes, a few bad apples spoils the bunch.

I don't think straight through cans would be as big a problem if more guys with them idled through populated areas but most seem to have terets and can't maintain a constant throttle angle. Whop, whop, blip, blip LOOK AT ME at 2:00 am just ain't cool.

If my business depended on income from sleds I'd be a little more forgiving but I would guess most land owners that allow access are farmers who aren't dependent on income from tourists.

I'm guessing most here on this forum with modified exhausts are respectful but it only takes a few to screw it up for the rest.

I may be preaching to the choir, but to those who insist on running loud cans, please be respectful to those who don't ride.

Be an ammbasador, not "one of those guys".
