4 drive cog axel on vmax

i upgraded my 99 sx700r to a 1.25" track and my 2 drive cog axel is slipping. does anyone know if a 4 drive cog axel from an 02 srx/viper fit?
 
you can add 2 outside drivers to your existing axle. however, the easiest & cheapest fix is just tighten the track!!
 
the track is probably overtightened at the moment. still slips. my sled is also around 9000km with visible wear on the factory axle. would two brand new drivers work ok with 2 worn ones? interesting
 
First check to see if your drive sprockets slid over on the shaft and are riding up on the track lugs. Saw this happen on a sled i picked up this summer. When you replaced the track did you get the right pitch? Check your track tension according to manual. If non of this works then your best bet would be a set of anti rachet drives. You can run the track looser than normal which is less resistance and less hyphax wear.
 
i don't think any thing has slid out of position on the axle. looked pretty tight when i had it out to replace the track. i hope my track is the right pitch. i never considered that. its a paddle track from a polaris. the track has also been set up by a yamaha dealer shortly after i installed it. slips in poweder and hole shot.
 
I put a Camoplast Predator 1.25" track on my '99 SX and didn't have a problem with the drivers. You probably have one of two problems - either the drivers are worn to the point that they can't properly engage the track or the track is the wrong pitch.

Let us know the brand and model/part number of the track you put in and we can tell you if it is the right pitch.

What polaris sled did it come off of? I know most of Polaris later model short tracks were the same 2.52 pitch as Yamaha, not sure on the mountain sleds
 
can anyone verify if the srx/viper axle will fit? did some research and i believe my track is the right pitch.
 
two drivewheel axle? Is that a canadian thing? all the sx 's I have ever seen are 4 drive wheel axles.
 
The parts fiche shows 4 drive wheels for my 98 sx, but it had only 2 drive wheels on the axle. I replaced the drive cogs when I put a new track on because they looked worn. I got 4 drive wheels from someone here. They said they were off a Viper. They worked just fine. I used the axle I had, so I had to press the old ones off and press the new ones on. Those drivers can wear out and it would give you slipping problems
 
Yep it should work

I verified your track part number with CB Peformance. It is a Camoplast 1.25" lug Ripsaw track with the correct pitch so yes, it will fit in your sled without any modifiactions to the drivers. I have the Predator version of your track in my '99 SX chassis and it works well. You most likely have an issue with your drivers being worn out and unable to maintain contact with the drive lugs when under load. Can you post some pictures of your drivers so taht we can see if they are worn? The lugs on the drivers (part that make contact with the track lugs) should be a uniform shape - almost like a tear drop shape. If they are not then they are worn to the point that they cannot properly drive your track. I belive you can take your drivers off and reverse them to get some more life out of them. Anyone know if you can do this for sure?

I had some what of same prob on my 00 sxr kept tighen track would still cog turned out my rear adj shaft was bent. Took a jump early in year landed hard on one side did not think twice about it then when i had a bad brg found bent shaft.

I purchased a used srx axel from the classifieds. When it gets here i am going to replace it. I will try to post pictures to clear this up.
 
My 99 SX600 only has the 2 drive cogs in the middle and non-driving idler wheels on the outer edges.
 
got me new/used axle in and the drivers look much better.

the only problem is the hole where the speedometer pin went in. you can see it in the pic. the srx has a threaded hole instead of small square hole for the pin. how hard is it to slide the cogs from one axle to another?
