jus picked up a 1998 srx 700 with 3400 miles, 118 psi across all cylinders, any input should i put a set of rings in it , the engine seems to have a real bad tinging sound at idle, but jus above idle seems to go away and sounds great, power valves have been cleaned and adjusted, also are these cylinders chrome plated or can i just run a hone through them with new rings?

They are Nikasil, and you can still deglaze them, and throw new rings in there. I would look more into your clutch to check out that pinging sound. If it was in the motor, I doubt it would go away with rpm.
thanks for the info valin, think ill prolly put a set of rings in it , cheap insurance
