Flotation Suits in Ontario
I am surprised that more sledders don't wear floater suits. Four out of five of my sled team wear mustang or other floatation coats and/or bibs. Almost half the running we do is on smaller lakes and rivers and twenty to sixty foot puddle jumping is common for certain areas. Most Yamaha's spray water on their belt which can be embarrassing for longer attempts!! I have located where the spray comes in (behind the primary) and if some silicone seal corrects this, will post this fix.
A waterski vest underneath can be a good alternative and makes you easier to find the next day! Leather suits help pull you down during an unexpected dip!
I wear an oversize mustang floater coat, yamaha - non boyant bibs, altimate boots and a bv2s helmet. I haven't had to tread water yet but may not have to as I would float!

The octane jacket is really nice and warm, but yes make sure you have the zip-in fleece liner in there. I actually didn't buy the fleece liner from FXR either, i had a columbia jacket that was all torn and stained up, but the liner was good, and it zipped into the octane jacket perfectly, works really nice like that. Yes, definately some nice clothing, you'll like it!

my swimsuit...it was 60 here today!!!
but seriously...coldwave hi altitude jacket and pant when it's cold, with the fleece liner, not the thermolite 'sweat and soak' liners...north face gore-tex tech jacket and pant when its a little warmer (or when I'm going to do a lot of digging)
could use some advise on boots, though...

The castle x stuff looks cool for sure. Hopefully it performs as well for me...What jacket/pants do you have? and how do you like the gear.
Gore-Tex is the way to go... Reima Gore-Tex 3/4 length jacket with North Face Gore-Tex bibs.
In the process of getting new boots. Has anyone tired the Ultimate Escape II Boots? They look like a decent boot for the money. They retail for around $125. I believe Yamaha and Ski-Doo use this boot and put their name on them.

Helmet: KBC SNX Helmet
Jacket: Coldwave Pro Star Cordura, with street bike armour inside(for when I fall off). It has a removable liner, lots of good sized pockets and large vents for the warmer days. Bought this jacket last year to replace my mustang floater suit. And I absolutely love it. It is very warm, comfortable and breathes well. You can zip in an additional fleece jacket, and I couldn't even think of it last year this thing was soo warm.
Pants: Coldwave Prostar Cordura. Just bought these this year so no experience, but with how well the jacket was I have high expectations. They also have a removable liner and good pockets.
Gloves: Coldwave leather gloves(forget the name).
