hi, i have a viper 700 and i been having a problem with it coming on the end of last year. I would be driving along and the machine would die out. The sled itself would be fine like it wouldn't shut off or the lights or nothen would die, but it was like i lost my throttle responce. I would have to let the machine come to a stop and let the rpms drop to idling speed. Then i could take off and it wouldn't happen for the rest of the trip, but it is just off and on. So if anyone has any info on this please let me know. thanks :2strokes:

could it be the throttle position sensor? Had this problem on my srx once. There is some wires you can bypass to get rid of the T.P.S but first try the troubleshoot to see if it is working. Hold the throttle by the swivel part and ease into it, it should override and not engage the clutch, if not, your T.P.S is malfunctioning. Refer to your owners manual for troubleshooting tips or check out the tech page on here.

oh, and welcome aboard, glad you took my advice and came here, it really is the best place to get great info!

Is the TPS the same as the TORS, because looking in the manual, i believe thats what they refer to it as. Just to make sure

TPS and TORS are 2 different things. TPS is a throttle position sensor and TORS is the throttle overide system. Your symptoms would indicate a TORS issue. Normally this is caused by a throttle cable that is out of adjustment. It is a safety feature that should not be overridden. If yours is malfunctioning, fix it or add a tether and disable the TORS. It's there in the event you have a stuck throttle cable. NOt had it happen to me, but have heard of MANY others wrecking sleds and hurting themselves when their throttle stuck wide open.

Another thing, I was wondering if running a rear heat exchanger is a good idea. Throughout the winter, i am tired of pulling over and letting sled cool down, but many people saw that they are not worth it however not sure of what else to do. Please let me know what you other viper drivers do?

I guess I was thinking TORS all along, sorry for the mix up lol! I have had a rear heat exchange since new, it is a great idea if you ask me!

do run studs in your track, and what kind of heat exchanger do you have. I have heard of the after market one and the bender racing one however there is a extreme difference in price.

I run a pioneer performance one, got it new from the dealer as he didnt have any of the Yamaha ones in stock. and I run an unstudded ripsaw 1 1/4 track. cant remember the price, that was way back in 2003 :)
