So I finally bought an exciter II SX. Had one brand new when young, and always wanted one as I got older, for nostalgic and collectibility reasons (last exciter made)
The thing is in great shape for the age/mileage.
So, the stock track is still on it, and its in good enough shape but wont be staying on there forever.
I considered adding a ripsaw or something, but part of me wants to change it to 136" or something like that, for fun in the deep stuff.
Anybody done this to a 121 exciter? Results? Opinions?
Also, I kow these made awesome compression as stock, what is the best bang for buck performance upgrade?

DON,T DO ANYTHING TO ALTAR THE WAY THIS SLED CAME OUT OF THE BOX. NO 136 CRAP !!! THESE SLEDS WERE MADE ONE YEAR. AND RIGHT ITS THE LAST EXCITER, BUT MORE THAN THAT ITS A SX, WHICH YAMAHA SHOULD OF BUILT FOR ALL THE EXCITERS. BEST BANG FOR YOUR BUCK HERE IS A AFTERMARKET SINGLE PIPE AND CLUTCHING. ALL THESE SLEDS NEED. NOW I DO HAVE A CLUTCH SET-UP FOR THESE, BUT WON,T POST IT YET UNTIL FURTHER TESTED. 3:16 (yammie tony)

is it just coincidence you typed ALTAR instead of ALTER? I know u're yammy god and all but geez
All kidding aside, track has to go soon enough, so how tall can I go with this? will a 1.25 fit with no other alterations?
If you add a pipe, does jetting need to be changed or?
Any info is appreciated

i modded a set of rx1 skies on mine
also added twin psi pipes and run a 1 " track on mine
left jetting factroy as it was set a little rich to start with
love the sled but as yamgod said i would change the track to a longer lengnth
if you want to do that i would do it to an exciter 2 but the sx's are just to rare

yeah, Ive decided to keep it as is, as far as track length. Wondering just how tall I can go though, it'd be wicked to have a 1.5 or something.....pull wheelies all day.

if you are going to change tracks, long track it. I used to have an ol exciter, when I moved to CO in the 90's that was the first mod. 136 1" I wished we had the ski's like now though. I also lowered the front of the skid 1" and back 1/2" DG pipe. twin 44's Awsome in the powder. light weight narrow front. Cut the WS to only 3" high. I also wrapped the pipe with heat cloth to keep the pipe hot. Al

Ex570sx clutching
Did se YAMMIE 3:16 does have a clutch option for the sx: I have finally found me a SX in good shape. So it is soon in my garage.
I do see that the OEM clutch have the 88R number, and i have a new 8AX clutch, is this a better one? This came as a OEM on 93/94 vmax 4, i do need to buy all the rollers, weight and spring for this.
I will change my clutch, because i have seen the result on a 92 exciter, it did work much better with a P85.
I also try to find a bender pipe, because of sound, do remember my 87 ex that i owned for many years ago with psi pipe on.
Is there someone that can help me find a service manual for ex570sx?

I've got almost the same setup as sandmaster does and it works really well for an older machine. I do want to upgrade to vmax clutches and I've got a 92 ST 136" skid and track that I'm going to swap under it for riding in deep stuff. I'm going to keep all the original stuff so I can swap back to the original setup when doing ice rides.
chilli-I always had problems bottoming out with the stock skid setup so I had a buddy with a cnc mill cut me some drop brackets for the back of the skid. Made the ride much better.
arcticsrx500-The only service manual (that I could find) other than the OEM one is a cd from repairpro. I think they just took the OEM manual and arranged it on a disk. Works good. Found it on ebay.

Know have i got the sx home. Have found a litle dent in my left sitepanel, easy to repair. Did se a litle crack on the seat cover, so will look for a new one. It is missing the OEM ski skins,,,think they are hard to find? and the exhaust pipe have cracks, so need a new one, maybe a performance pipe.
Is there anyone that have tryed perfomance pipe on this, and can i use exhaust pipe from earlier exciters? and do i have to change jetting with a performance pipe?
I know about the service at cd, but im looking for one in paper.

I've got a good seat that I kept from my 92 Exciter ST and I think I still have the side panels too. I don't know what shipping would be but I'd let you have em for a few bucks.

BEST AFTERMARKET PERFORMANCE PIPE FOR THE EXCITER SX IS EITHER A BENDER OR RIECHARD. BEST TWINS WERE PSI,s. EITHER GETS YOUR HP OVER 100. IF YOU RUN A PERFORMANCE PIPE, NO NEED TO CHANGE '' Y '' PIPE. YOU MUST RE-JET AND RE-CLUTCH. 3:16 (yammie tony)

I do looking for a bender pipe, but seems more easy to look, than to find. Which jetting do i need for a performance pipe? i do know it has std 155. so will 157,5 or 160 work?

Have always used 98okt here, it have been worked fine every year. Seems that the quality has been fine. I do know the skidoo had some trouble if they where driven with 95, but ok with 98.
I have found a set of psi twin, but the seller didnt now the year of the ex they where on, does it matter if they is from a earlier ex?
Have seen the dynotech, and the 150 mj, and perhaps it will work for me, because i always drive at sealevel up to 1200ft.
